Grande Strategia w Williamsie: Albon rozbija bolid, dlatego Sargeant zostaje bezrobotny do końca weekendu.
I'm more of a #Mercedes/AMG guy but just look at this #McLaren - the lines on this set look absolutely fantastic for the #SpeedChampions line, and #Lego really outdid expectations this time. Can't wait to dig into this build later this week #F1#Formula1
While #F1 turns more into a 💩-show where internal affairs off track seem to be more important than what happens on track, I had the joy of watching #F2 again earlier today. I can recommend it, but only if you're more interested in motorsport than soap operas. Dennis Hauger did an incredible job during the final lap. Was a feast for the eyes. Let's hope his incident near the pits doesn't make him lose 3rd place. When it comes to F1, Bearman did splendid! F2 to the rescue!
Ciekawostka: Ollie Bearman jest pierwszym od ponad 50 lat debiutantem w barwach Ferrari. Przed nim, w barwach Scuderii debiutował Arturo Merzario w 1972
A few days ago, an article about Formula 1 by cycling journalist Kate Wagner was published on Road & Track's website. Its focus was the power dynamics of F1, and the enormous amount of money flowing at races, and it was a phenomenal bit of writing. Hours later, it was scrubbed without trace from the website, though the archived version remains. It's linked in this story from Defector, where journalist Patrick Redford tries to figure out exactly what went down.
The story was published in, and then removed from Road and Track. You should probably read it.
“If you wanted to turn someone into a socialist you could do it in about an hour by taking them for a spin around the paddock of a Formula 1 race. The kind of money I saw will haunt me forever.”
Writer #KateWagner may have seemed like an odd choice to cover the luxury world of FormulaOne. …FormulaOne races…have become pit stops on the jet-set circuit, where the cheapest general-admission tickets start around $500. Still, #RoadAndTrack mag commissioned Wagner to cover a FormulaOne race in Austin last fall, sending her on a trip funded by British petrochemicals co INEOS. https://www.washingtonpost.com/style/media/2024/03/05/formula-one-road-track-kate-wagner/
It’s almost unheard of for a news outlet to retract an article w/o explanation, especially a story of this size whose accuracy has not been publicly challenged. Neither #KateWagner nor #RoadAndTrack responded to requests for comment.
A person familiar w/editorial deliberations at Road & Track said the story, which had been in the works for months, was pulled after its #publication at the order of Editor in Chief #DanielPund on the grounds that it didn’t fit w/the site’s editorial goals.
…It’s possible that #KateWagner’s piece ruffled more feathers in the #AutomotiveIndustry than the typical Road & Track story. …Wagner’s is the kind of grand, impolite story that is increasingly rare in the struggling #magazine industry, where surviving outlets depend on not offending the #advertisers or #celebrities they feature.
The author [#KateWagner] criticized the general state of #FormulaOne, arguing that it has grown boring amid the dominance of Red Bull Racing star Max Verstappen. Wagner also mocked her hosts at #INEOS, describing its invitation to her as a bid to gain positive #publicity & #whitewash the company’s image. “The #petrochemical companies, deeply #powerful institutions, need #journalists to write about all the things they attach themselves to that are not being a petrochemical company,”she wrote. #F1
