@nobodyinperson I've had the same experience recently after launching a new command line tool I created for GNOME desktops.
Having that hands-on experience with #archlinux PKGBUILDs definitely makes putting together a #nix#flake or standard derivation a lot more straightforward and easy to understand for sure! 🙌👌 :arch: :nixos:
Pour une formation que je vais faire au boulot, je viens de créer un #nix#flake qui te fournit un #neovim configuré au petits ognons pour les besoins de la formation. C'est vraiment un outil qui envoie. nix run github:owner/repo et zou tu as ton éditeur sans interférer avec ta potentielle conf locale.
Avec mon #cachix perso pour récupérer une version précompilée pour les OS utilisés, c'est du pur bonheur.
Also ich beschäftige mich die letzte Zeit etwas mit #NixOS und dem Package Manager. Mit nixos-anywhere kann ich wunderbar von meinem Kubuntu aus reproduzierbar intial ein System (VM) aufsetzen. Aber für die Wartung mit "nixos-rebuild --switch --target-host user@host --flake .#flake" komme ich um ein NixOS zum Management nicht herum? GIbts da einen Trick?
Idea: bundling your cli $EDITOR (:vim: #vim :emacs: #emacs whatever) into a one-file static binary (#Apptainer#Appimage whatever) that you can take with you and will work everywhere, with all plugins and configs already set up. Alternatively as a :nixos: #nix#flake of course, though that's not so easily portable to systems where you don't have root access and the admins don't want to install #Nix
What's missing in the #NixOS community (from my perspective so far): documentation for the step from one host (relatively well documented) to multiple hosts with different configurations.
There seems to be millions of possible ways to implement that and nothing seems to be documented.
With one test notebook and one VM, I'm already totally lost since this really strange #nixlang (+ #flakes) requires weird magic spells for the simple tasks of defining host-specific includes. 😔

1/ Ich muss noch mal was zu #Rammstein sagen. In der @tazgetroete ist ein Beitrag des Germanisten Uwe Schütte, der auf andere Germanist*innen schimpft, die einen Sammelband zu Rammstein herausgegeben haben. Er bezeichnet Rammstein als geistige Brandstifter.
Eins kann man wohl sehr klar sagen: Die Rammstein-Leute sind keine #Nazis. Paul Landers war bei der #Firma dabei. Die Firma, #IchFunktion und #Freygang waren Bands mit teils überlappenden Besetzungen. Die Firma hat 1988 in der #Zionskirche auf einem Konzert gespielt, das von West- und Ostberliner Skinheads überfallen wurde. Nach der Wende wurden sie auch noch mal auf einer Raststätte so zusammengeschlagen, dass der Gitarrist ausgestiegen und ausgewandert ist. Fabian Marten war auch bei der Firma ist jetzt Ton- und Lichtmensch bei Rammstein.
#FeelingB hat mit Aljoscha die Schönhauser 5 besetzt. Ein linkes Projekt. Die Firma war beim Eimer mit dabei und beim Tacheles. Das sind alles linke Anarchisten. Die #Wydoks haben 1990 für die #Volkskammer kandidiert.

Rammstein sind genau so wenig Nazis wie #Laibach Nazis sind und #DAF. Das ist vielleicht nicht für alle einfach zu verstehen.
Uwe Schütte erwähnt das Lied Deutschland von Rammstein und erklärt es zum Skandal. Für mich ist es ein ganz klares Bekenntnis zum Antifaschismus. Wer das nicht sieht, will es nicht sehen.
Der ganze Sex-Kram ist eklig und wahrscheinlich ist es das Ende der Band. Aber dann macht sie doch bitte für #metoo fertig und nicht mit ungerechtfertigten Sachen.

My current issue with #nix, #nixOS and #HomeManager: I think I see their point how they solve some issues I'm facing. I may want to be there but I don't want to invest the energy to actually go there.
Furthermore, there seems to be a chaotic-looking heap of concepts that are hard to initially understand and keep them apart.
If I'd be in my twenties, I may have started with that ecosystem, embracing its style and concepts. 😔
