I just don't understand how green party members can be so strongly pro Israel.
Even in Sweden, where the greens used to be on the left spectrum on many issues, including Palestine and Israel occupation, the new policies of the Miljö Partiet have moved to the right, very close to those of Social Democrats and Center Partiet.
The right have always been strong supporters of Israel and the current minority coalition government who is heavily dependent on the extreme right (Swedish Democrats, the former Neo Nazi party who stopped shaving their heads and replace their boots and military clothing with suits and tie) have said many times that they regret the recognition of palestinian state and just ordered a multi million euro contract for Israeli made air-to-surface missiles "proven to be efficient in battle" which means they were used against defenceless Palestinians.
The only party in Sweden who is strongly firm on their support of palestinians is Vänster Partiet (the left party, reformed from the former non-soviet friendly communist party).
#ClimateDiary#GE2024 I take it back! Two weeks in and I AM excited about these elections. I am hopeful that apart from Tory annihilation (yay) and Labour majority (no to neg feelings on this), this will be the election where the #GreenParty really surges, and where hopefully independents like Jeremy Corbyn, Faiza Shaheen and Andrew Feinstein win some seats. In other words, an election where we (eco-socialists) can and do vote for the actual people we want. It’s a start. https://mastodon.green/@pvonhellermannn/112488900685395946
A reminder that, unlike the other parties, the Green Party relies mainly on small donations. They need to raise thousands to put them in with a chance of electing 4 MPs. If you're able to donate, the link is below. Please share anyway.
Whatever your politics, it's unfair that the second most popular party for under 25s in the UK is unable to compete on even ground.
