So, I'm designing a system to produce 1:4 scale keyboards that are as close as possible to the look, feel, and sound of the full scale originals. The first version will be used in miniature VT100 terminals and I hope to reuse much of the work for other designs and scales.
This is the head of a threadlog about my process, goals, mistakes, and progress.

I like to leave test prints around the house so that I catch them out of the corner of my eye which lets me see them with a less familiar vision. Making a thing in CAD tends to distort what I can see of it.

@trevorflowers In CAD, 1000 feet may as well be 0.01mm. It’s easy to lose a sense of scale when modeling sometimes. For a lot of my work, I insert a 6ft tall human model into my layouts to see how crazy (or not) something is.

Drop has a new dark Solarized (my open source colorscheme) keycap set. It looks great & is discounted right now. (No affiliation with this set, they produced it on their own. Not a sponsored post, this is just me proud that my colorscheme continues to be loved by many). https://drop.com/buy/drop-dcx-solarized-dark-keycap-set

@ethanschoonover you know I have a lot of words, and I don't have words to share the breadth and depth of my joy that Solarized is a thing that exists in my timeline. If Solarized is not the answer, you need to ask a better question. (: it's how I got into OmniOutliner, it looked "right" so then I could actually use it.

(It was nice that even after I left Omni some of my work still ended up in their products.)

  • 4 Redox filaires
  • 3 Redox wireless
  • 7 trackballs 4 boutons + scroll ring

lanodan,
@lanodan@queer.hacktivis.me avatar

Kailh Box Black are waaaaaay too hard!

I can feel my fingers getting more tired each keystroke I make.

I've now ordered some Gateron Milky Yellow Pro for my Planck, which I still need to get used to anyway...

@mauro
I've moved from the steel springs of IBM Model M to Cherry Blue and then Gateron Blue. Then this summer I've met Kailh Box White and I really like them. Clicky but light and not noisy (this, my colleagues appreciate).

@benjaminhollon I'm a just a basic dude with basic needs :mastodance:

@JLW_the_Jobber
Ha! XD

And when I think about it there are so many features of QMK I'd totally be harnessing (like OSM) if only I had a good way to emulate them on my laptop keyboard.

I made a slight change… This required more work than I was anticipating 🫠

Good move with the right spacebar. I know I only use my right thumb for space. ;)
