I just made 20 new #KIVA loans, bringing our all time total to $59,770 (gonna hit $60k soon!). Please join TEAM BIML on kiva and make some micro-loans yourself. This is the kind of capitalism we support.
A Kiva, with its original roof, tucked up under a cliff overhang in a small canyon (10/22/2018). The use of Kivas by ancient cliff dwellers is unknown. However, modern Hopi use Kivas for spiritual ceremonies.
I've decided to move a tiny bit of my savings from my bank to lend "directly" to people in poor countries that need a bit of help to get their business going. This can be a very effective way to help people out of extreme poverty!
There's no guarantee I'll get all my money back ofc, but at least it does some good
And yes, of course it's even better to help people out of poverty to just give them money that they don't have to pay back with interest! But I also give to charity, including to #GiveDirectly that does just this, including as emergency relief, to refugees, and as a part of a UBI experiment. https://www.givedirectly.org
Charity is amazing! But I also need some savings, so lending trough Kiva is my way of just taking a bit more risk with some of my savings to do good with it also
Just made 30 new KIVA loans. Please join Team BIML and make some micro-loans to deserving hard workers. This is how capitalists like me scratch their socialist itch. We have loaned $59,195 to date (with about $3500 riding all the time).
Just made 26 more #KIVA loans with recycled loan paybacks. Micro-loans are a great way to support both philanthropic giving and capitalism simultaneously.
