Backed down because he knew he was going to lose. (Now we have to worry about his vengeance, because he doesn't lose well.) https://www.channel3000.com/news/republican-leader-of-wisconsin-assembly-says-he-wont-move-to-impeach-states-top-elections-official/article_ffbd8c74-022e-5632-bc79-5f8afb021e94.html

@MHowell Mr. Gavel-In/Gavel-Out Vos is backing down for now, but he’s probably cooking up new nasty schemes to oust Justice Janet and Meagan Wolfe. He’s the worst!

“This is vintage Vos—peevish, petulant, reflexively retributive. It is governance by temper tantrum, which is to say, it handily symbolizes the state GOP’s response to any challenge to its antidemocratic consolidation of power.” Robin Vos, speaker of Wisconsin Assembly, is “kind of a jerk”. https://plus.thebulwark.com/p/wisconsins-trickle-down-jerkonomics

In 2018, the GOP impeached the entire state supreme court of West Virginia.

Now, it's threatening to impeach a new Wisconsin Justice despite major legal red flags.

So I wrote about the party's familiar play: test how much it can get away with. NEW: https://boltsmag.org/wisconsin-impeachment-protasiewicz/

New, from me: WI GOP voted to remove the state's nonpartisan election administrator, just as they fired her predecessors in 2015 & 2018.
Why? She refused to go along with Big Lie.
And they are still threatening to impeach a judge to save their gerrymander.

@donmoyn Great article explaining all the diabolical machinations the legislature is using to hold onto gerrymandered political power in Wisconsin.

The vote creates a dispute over who is in charge of overseeing elections in a state that is expected to play a critical role in next year’s presidential campaign

Meagan Wolfe wasn’t renominated because three WEC members abstained. https://wisconsinexaminer.com/2023/08/29/election-conspiracists-testify-at-disputed-confirmation-hearing-for-wec-administrator/ “Despite the lack of four votes for Wolfe’s renomination, the Senate moved forward as if she’d been nominated, resulting in the hearing Tuesday. Wolfe did not attend, after Attorney General Josh Kaul wrote in a legal memo that the issue was not properly before the Senate.”

“World of crazy” Wisconsin 2020 election deniers testify at Wisconsin Senate Elections Committee faux hearing of Wisconsin Elections Committee commissioner Meagan Wolfe’s re-nomination (hint: she wasn’t renominated but Senate decided to go ahead with clown show anyway). https://wisconsinexaminer.com/2023/08/29/election-conspiracists-testify-at-disputed-confirmation-hearing-for-wec-administrator/
