I love Canadian state funerals. I love that we, the people, pay the state media to spend a bunch of our money pretending to us that someone spent his life doing things for us, when in fact he did them to us.

He simultaneously set a prominent woman up for abject failure, and robbed anyone of the opportunity to be the celebrated and successful first female prime minister of Canada in the future.

He gave misogynists a generation worth of opportunities to say "well we tried a woman once, and we saw how that worked out."

As a teenager growing up in #Ontario, I always envied the kids who spent their summers #TreePlanting; they'd come back from the bush in September, insect-chewed and leathery, with new muscle, incredible stories, thousands of dollars, and a glow imparted by the knowledge that they'd made a new forest with their own blistered hands.

The art of finding out what's true or prudent didn't die with the Revolution (or the discount Canadian version, the Malaise). The truth is knowable. Doing stuff is possible. Things don't have to be on fire.

David Wake (remember him?) Ontario’s integrity commissioner found "no wrongdoing" in the re-routing of the Bradford Bypass.
The commissioner decided Transportation Minister Caroline and her Associate Minister of Transport, MPP Stan Cho had "no involvement" in the route change relating to the "investment land" purchased by.. Stan Cho's father.
