Reading the comments under posts by the Australian Electoral Commission is incredibly depressing...
For one, people accusing the AEC of offering pencils at voting booths so that they can change people's votes.
How can anyone seriously believe that in a system they imagine to be entirely corrupt, the method of changing the votes would be to manually go through the votes of millions of people and tediously erase and re-write each ballot with the desired outcome? #auspol#thevoicetoparliament
“I have worked with #IndigenousAustralians who have significant local community experience in Indigenous health care as well as Indigenous health experts. It has been my experience that engagement with #IndigenousVoices is a key to improving services and policies.
Yes campaigners get baited by bad-faith provocations, while some in the no camp point directly to this online madness confusing the too-time-poor-for-politics...
What people need to realise is that all this garbage being spread about #TheVoiceToParliament is not rising naturally. It's being driven by ratfucking and dark money from Russia and America, and encouraged by people in this country and abroad who have a much bigger agenda of disruption and anti-democracy than they do of racism. Racism is just the cherry on the shit sundae. The talking points, the lies, are intended to undermine our unity, our values, and our communities all over the country.
I cannot believe there are still people who claim a sizeable portion of Australia aren’t absolute racist fucks. If the No Campaign actions and backing don’t show it, I don’t know what they need to see 🤬 #TheVoice#VoteYes
@dropbear CPAC (Conservative Political Conference) the other day.
“I’d like to acknowledge the traditional rent-seekers, past, present and emerging,” Marks said, to applause from the crowd.
“But seriously, I’d like to acknowledge the traditional owners – violent black men. I hope there are some real feminists in the audience who appreciate the part-truth of that joke.”
Met with laughter and applause. Apparently it's "just a joke".
A very not insignificant portion of conservative higher ups and their constituents are racist pigs.
In today’s SMHAge the English-born (and still affiliated) Tony Abbott shows that he doesn’t understand that taking over someone else’s home and all their assets is a bit more than bad manners. #TheVoiceToParliament#VoteYes#auspol
Hardly a surprise, especially as that nasty little racist, John Howard, is now telling his troops to “Maintain the rage” against giving Australia’s First Nations People a fair go #TheVoiceToParliament#VoteYESAustralia
Sky News is opening a channel dedicated specifically to the voice, so more awful takes on that topic.
Sky will be offering this for free to the regions via free to air TV, poisoning the discussion in regional Australia and furthering a divide between regional Australia and the coasts.
I absolutely respect the argument of treaty now and not recognising the referendum in favour of sovereignty; Sky News and their gang are pushing an absolute lie that this creates a higher class of Australian citizen, and I'll never respect that.
