Interesting blurb from Paul Bonjiorno in

Imagine demanding the release of the draft so they can have an open — after the COALition's conduct of "debate". Now that went well, didn't it. 🤣 Buckley's and None, I'd say. And a good thing, too. If allowed that to happen he'd have to have rocks in his head.

And now the other bit:

"The next set play for Labor to hold off the Liberals and the independent surge at bay will be the May budget.

"Chalmers is flagging more energy bill relief – that should help."

But no thoughts about the or ?

Calling all Australians!

I want to understand why The Voice was rejected.

Can you recommend any reading for me?

How would you explain it?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions and thoughts.

This week, we're looking for music focused on the voice/the singer. The music itself is taking a backseat. Luckily, there's a genre that makes the task very easy :celloutsmart:

Awich - QUEENDOM

Some of Crowe's statements in his article are immensely shameful IMO. I often wonder what i think of this journo, but his summation, interpretation & allegations in this piece are just shameful.

It IS legitimate to blame the 61% in large measure. I substantially reject his free-pass for their indolence, ignorance, laziness, selfishness... & fscken racism, damnit.

Jacinta Price is damn phony and I knew it from the start.
Post her referendum wrecking mission she is now calling on the Parliament to conduct an ‘audit’ into spending on Aboriginal & Torres Straight Islander peoples.
Ironically this ‘was’ one of the tasks set aside for the Voice committee to do - but of course Price opposed the Voice didn’t she.
Honestly the LNP think Australians are mugs

A statement from who supported referendum - from the Heart https://ulurustatement.org/a-statement-from-indigenous-australians-who-supported-the-voice-referendum/ “This is a bitter irony. That people who have only been on this continent for 235 years would refuse to recognise those whose home this land has been for 60,000 and more years is beyond reason.”

troberts, to random

So here's a take from me.

I think the basic proposition to make a special rule, for a special group, in the Constitution, was always going to struggle to get 55-60% of the population required to pass a referendum.

I feel that for the Yes campaign, the merits of the proposition were so self-evident, they weren't prepared for a simple response of "No, there shouldn't be special rules for special groups. Everyone should be equal."

Now, I support special rules for special groups all the time. It's why we have a welfare system. It's why there are things like gender quotas.

But I think ultimately the symbolic nature of "in the constitution, forever" made this type of argument that much harder to prosecute for the Yes campaign.

The need to provide supporting arguments (it's just an advisory group, it's to enable reconciliation, it needs to be protected from change of govt, etc) makes it hard to get that necessary widespread support.

So, so disappointed. How gut-wrenching we’re still not prepared to deal with our past and start to truly listen. Quite shameful, really.

As we saw with Brexit, White people will vote to take away rights of people, even themselves if Foreigners (or the Outsider) get to suffer as well.
Our governments know this and exploit it fully. They love giving us the illusion of choice then pat themselves on the back for how 'democratic' they are, but the game is always rigged.

So we've gone from a country of "I wonder if any of my neighbours are racist" to "Most people on my street are racist." I feel like this whole thing has backfired and now racists will feel emboldened, knowing they have the support of 8 million Australians to continue depriving, oppressing, ignoring, and steamrolling the indigenous population.

Rather than be depressed by the coverage of vote, please find this wombat on my driveway a pleasing distraction.
I think it may be female with a joey in pouch, because it seems especially rotund, even for the very healthy wombat population we have.

Warren Mundine claims there hasn't been racism from the campaign, which is a complete lie.

The Vote No's primary angle has been to claim The Voice is divisive, making the people who don't follow the truth very angry.
