A couple weeks ago I followed along as volunteers from the disaster relief organization Team Rubicon removed burnable material from Zintel Canyon in Kennewick, Washington, as part of an effort to mitigate wildfires in the area. Kennewick has a higher fire risk than 92% of U.S. communities. Team Rubicon was started by a US Marine Corps veteran in 2010, traveling to Haiti after that year's devastating earthquake and has grown to include more than 160,000 volunteers helping respond to or mitigate disasters both in the US and internationally. 18:10 Monday - Another large #wildfire between Prosser and Benton City, Washington. This one has jumped the Yakima River and Interstate 82. Many roads, including the interstate, are closed.
Interesting clouds this morning southeast of the #TriCities. These are formed by the air being forced up by the ridge south of US 12 between Wallula and Walla Walla.
As the air moves northeastward and rises, it reaches the point where the temperature equals the dew point of the parcel, forming clouds downwind of the ridge.
