Increasing Muscle Strength and Function in Older Adults with Cocoa Powder
As an older adult (I'm 74), I found this video really interesting and thought of the conversation with Sharon the other day about our shared concern for maintaining muscle strength.

Tempeh is an excellent source of protein and is really easy to produce in a home kitchen.
While most people think of soy tempeh, which I also make, my personal favourite is made with beluga lentils.This batch of lentils was sprouted before cooking to increase the bioavailability of the nutrients.
This tempeh has a great chewy texture and we love it air fried just as it is, no need to add any flavouring.

It's very forgiving of the growing conditions. This batch went through periods where the internal temperature varied between 5° and 38° C (it heats itslf). The very cold patch was when I was afraid it would get too hot overnight when I couldn't monitor it and I put it into a room with fridge like conditions. I just brought it out next morning and it gradually warmed up itself and kept growing.

Now that's a blue potato! I haven't saturated this colour. It's exactly as it looks in real life.

It's an organic RiverJohn Blue, grown by a local farmer and bought from the Wolfville Farmer"s Market to Go (www.wfm2go.ca). Blue potatoes are full of anthocyanins, just like blueberries. So good for you and delicious, too.

A new batch of started in the prefect weather conditions for it!
Partly inspired by @Leisureguy who is frequently posting his , and having finished my frozen supplies, I got started on this. I will do two of them then get @stevenkennard to smoke the finished batches. It's delicious on salads.
Years ago, I invested in an attachent for my mixer that cracks the soybeans, otherwise it would be too labour intensive.

Batch of tempeh finished in 18 hours.
I start mine in the oven where the light has been on for a few hours. That's warm enough and cost me nothing. Then I steamed it all for 10 minutes to stop the culture.

2 Plastic bags filled with flat pack of beans that have been cultured and are covered in a white coating binding them together.

Easy Berry Chia Jam - Date Sweetened

This is a quick, easy and delicious no cook 'jam' that uses whole food ingredients. I make mine mostly from the blackberries that grow in great profusion behind our barn, sown by the birds many years ago but tended carefully by me now.
