@jawarajabbi you jest but I have seen rusty stains that you would swear were blood and when you're alone in pitch black underground tunnels it can be mildly unsettling

@jawarajabbi thanks so much! And yeah, I have a photo of this place with a weird, small locked door in the wall that was a pastel blue that has stains leaching from the bottom that look just like blood. Couldn't get the door open to verify but I'm 99.9% sure it's just rust but... context counts, things can hit psychological buttons even when you know they're not what they look like

@Cherteapet @AbandonedAmerica the abandoned places are always sad because they were built in the spirit of hope, but if they are abandoned before they are truly used up then all the hard work of the people who built and ran them is gone to waste. It would be better if the building materials could be recycled and provide happiness for new people rather than fall into decay and rot, only providing sustenance for fungus.

@rwba I think people in general are pretty myopic when it comes to repercussions. It seems to be a pretty universal trait to feel like we can do what we want and not pay the bill for it

The crooked grand staircase at the abandoned Empire Hotel in Sharon Springs, NY. Aside from the staircase, sagging floors and doorways were an indicator that the hotel wasn't structurally sound. Less than a decade after I first photographed it, the entire building collapsed on itself.

@zebulonmysterioso yeah, I was pretty young and also the puzzles were pretty obscure, even for adults. I don't think I ever finished one.
