Apparently in 's trial, there is an "overflow room," where would-be spectators sit and watch the proceedings, presumably on teevee. So why can't we do the same?

Two journalists covering the trial have been banned from the court for violating an order that prohibits the taking of photos, video or audio recordings.

The reporters had been covering the trial from an overflow room, where those who cannot get into the main courtroom follow the proceedings on large screens. [...] New York state laws prohibit any video and audio recordings of the proceedings.
