So I spent a big chunk of my life living next door to Louisiana (Houston) and now I live next door to Quebec (Toronto) and it just this moment occurred to me to check if Quebec has beignets. Like, I'd simply assumed if I ever went liking for beignets I'd find them. So I asked a Quebecoise friend, and

Okay, so they do have them, but—

Quebec beignets have holes???

I need this funnel to look less new and shiny for the pitch drop experiment project, so I'm going to attempt to tarnish it with ammonia fumes.

The downside here is that this ammonia is what I have used to degrease animal bones that I have cleaned, so the smell of it boiling is probably horrendous

The idea that individual action can’t affect climate change when 70% of the US economy is consumer spending, makes me want to yell at people.
No, you on your own can’t do anything, but you as a part of a community can. When many people change their behaviors we can have an impact.

@MLE_online but the bumble bees aren’t really done overwintering yet, in a few weeks they won’t be sleeping in my garden and I can get planting.

In the past month I’ve harvested about 7 pounds of produce out of my office hydroponic setup. Tomatoes, small peppers, and greens. Not bad!
The tomatoes should give me a couple more pounds in the next month, and hopefully I can stagger planting new greens so they keep producing.
I sometimes turn them off in the summer because the lights produce heat.

@MLE_online if you can get a used aerogarden or other tabletop machine they’re pretty easy to start with. And will give you an idea if indoor gardening is fun for you.

@MLE_online you can make a similar style machine with some pumps and a food safe plastic tote. But the premade machines are very easy to get started with.

The darn Lettuce caught another mouse and brought it into my house and under my bed to play with it.

Fortunately I caught it pretty easily and let it go outside -- far away this time so she won't find it again

@MLE_online this happened to us once. Pepper spent a month looking in the corner where the mouse was, hoping it was still hiding. Although she didn’t yell about it. (Yelling is reserved for people going to bed at the wrong time. And it’s unclear what the right rime is.)

I think I need to figure out how to make short form video content in order to supply myself with dopamine.
First problem is most of my ideas require me to film over the length of a week, and then stick the bits together. And that’s a commitment that hasn’t worked out yet.

@frainfostudent @viq it’s easy! It looks like a text editor and the commands are on the screen. You don’t need to know secrets.
