BradleyUffner,

Is this an attempt to obscure a real spy balloon? Send over so many trash filled ones that they start ignoring the real deal when it flies overhead?

BradleyUffner,

I can snap with my toes the same way people snap their fingers, but only with the right foot for some reason.

BradleyUffner,

Me too! But only the ones on my right foot.

BradleyUffner,

Half the fun of trail riding is handling dynamic stuff like this.

BradleyUffner,

Not exactly. The answers would be exactly the same given the exact same inputs if they didn’t intentionally and purposefully inject some random jitter into the algorithm each time specifically to avoid getting the same answer each time

BradleyUffner,

I consider “context”, even if not added explicitly by the user, to be part of the input.

BradleyUffner,

PA native… I’d eat the hell out of that.

BradleyUffner,

I know how you feel I used to love watching all the SpaceX launches, but I just can’t bring myself to care anymore about anything Musk is involved in.

BradleyUffner,

ICQ died the day they were bought by AOL.

BradleyUffner,

Maybe if you insult them a few more times they will see the error of their ways and vote for your guy.

BradleyUffner,

It costs something to build and maintain the infrastructure to distribute power. Typically that cost is recovered through payments for the generation of the power, which becomes a problem if generation costs get too low. It suggests that we should probably consider a different model of paying for that infrastructure now that the reality of generation has changed.

I did not fully anticipate just how lonely and depressing an evil playthrough is.

I’m currently on my 3rd playthrough, and I’m playing as a dark urge character who gives into his urges. For spoiler prevention I’ll describe what I just finished as vaguely as possible. I just completed the durge objective that gives you a powerful reward in act 2....

BradleyUffner,

I am still highly amused that the bodies of people that die in your camp are carted around to all the different camp sites for the rest of the game.

BradleyUffner,

i like how the answers are the exact same generic unhelpful drivel you hear 20k times a month if you’re depressed as well.

It makes sense though. It was trained on that drivel.

BradleyUffner, (edited )

They have no memory actually. They are completely static. When you chat with them, every single previous prompt and response from that session is fed back through as if it were one large single prompt. They are just faking it behind a chat-like user interface. They most definitely do not learn anything after training is complete.

BradleyUffner,

I love how confidently wrong you are!

BradleyUffner,

That’s a completely different kind of AI. This story, and all the discussion up to this point, has been about the LLM based AIs being employed by Google search and ChatGPT.

BradleyUffner,

You can “explain” it that way as much as you want, that doesn’t make it true.

BradleyUffner,

Was this actually an age gate, or was it a form of copy protection where the answers are in the printed manual?

Greater Idaho movement: 13 counties in eastern Oregon have voted to secede and join Idaho (ktvz.com)

On Tuesday, voters in Crook County passed measure 7-86, which asked voters if they support negotiations to move the Oregon/Idaho border to include Crook County in Idaho. The measure is passing with 53% of the vote, and makes Crook County the 13th county in eastern Oregon to pass a Greater Idaho measure.

BradleyUffner,

Considering that it’s just some imaginary line in the dirt that a bunch of people agree on the location of, yeah it’s a lot more rational than everything you go through to physically move

BradleyUffner, (edited )

The concept of “Idaho” is an entirely societally defined concept. If everyone agrees you are in Idaho, then you are in Idaho. If all you care about is being in Idaho, and you can do that with less effort and resources than physically moving across state lines, why wouldn’t you do that?

I think it’s a pretty short sighted and selfish thing to do, but it is entirely rational.

BradleyUffner,

LLMs don’t understand any words.

BradleyUffner,

I think that at best you could say that they understand the relationship between tokens. But even that requires a really generous definition of the word “understand”.

Why does this happen to some of my games? (slrpnk.net)

title really… got a few games where this oldschool TV error shows instead of the actual main screen, the same happens with Dragons Dogma Dark Arisen. It’s a super weird thing, as before this appears the actual loading screen is present, but this error-image just decides to slowly fade in…?

BradleyUffner,

Ohh wow. I just thought this was some new game intro thing. Had no idea it wasn’t supposed to do that.
