Went vegan in 2009 after learning about dairy cows. My only regret is not doing it earlier.

Bron1954,

@poligraf With respect to Albert Einstein, religion has caused the greatest pain and bondage of humans throughout history. The belief in a mythical deity has held humans back from evolving and continues today. Religion fuels racism and bigotry.

Bron1954,

@poligraf Religion is a human creation. Religion has very little to do with creating a better world but everything to do with controlling people through fear and subjugation. Jesus, according to the Bible, told people do not go to Church to pray, do it privately and quietly at home. In other words, have your personal beliefs but don't follow a religion.

Bron1954,

@poligraf I have no objection to people having discussions about their beliefs, that's a good thing. Religion on the other hand is big business, they pay no tax, is controlling and generally responsible for much of the world's problems. Everything you point out that benefits people can be done without religion. We will just have to agree to disagree. I'm with Woody on this one.

Bron1954,

@poligraf I don't agree with you. Enjoy your day/night.

It's so tragically obvious that #Zionism is nothing but #fascism of another ilk. Underlying is the same greed for money, land and power that signifies #Capitalism.

In the end, when all is said and done this is what it is. Fascism donning its favourite costume of #Nationalism and religious zealotry.

Pointing that out is NOT antisemitism. Get it into your bloody heads.

Bron1954,

@tqwhite @Radical_EgoCom @coffeepine Firstly, Judaism is a religion not an ethnic group. No other country on Earth exists for a religious group, those who tried have been called cults. And the Palestinians are Semites, the Zionists are antisemitic.

Bron1954,

@tqwhite @Radical_EgoCom @coffeepine Judaism is a religion not an ethnic group. Judaism was a late addition to the Semites which originally only included peoples from ethnic Arabic speaking people. Zionism is a political movement which is supported by people from all backgrounds. The creation of Israel based on a religion led to an apartheid State. The creation of Israel based on religion was always going to create problems for these reasons.

Hello. I am Friends4AnimalJustice. I am vegan through fighting to end dog meat trade. It opened my eyes to the suffering of all animals. I am also pro ๐ŸŒŽ buying local, banning plastic when possible and palm oil which leads to deforestationโ€ฆ. Hello fellow vegansโ€ฆ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿ’š

@Friends4AnimalJustice Thanks for the follow. If you haven't already you may like to follow @palmoildetectives who post a lot on animals affected by this trade. ๐Ÿ‘‹

@poligraf Humans generally think at micro level, not macro. And as a social species tend to keep to their neighborhood. Change Management is used in companies because they know change is generally resisted. Same at political level, and people now wait to be told what to think rather than do their own analysis. That's why the world is now sliding to the right, groups like the Atlas Foundation fight anything that will empower people. And they do it effectively. Australia's referendum a major example, denying Indigenous Australians empowerment.

Bron1954,

@poligraf Humans generally reach a comfortable position then wish to stay that way. People tend to be limited by thinking within small criteria. In the referendum I campaigned for 'Yes'; and had truly horrendous racist remarks thrown in my face. Mainly because people are unable to think outside of their own environment. That's why change is hard. The Roman poet Juvenal said it. 'Give them bread and circuses, and they will never revolt.'

Bron1954,

@poligraf Everything has a lifespan. When it comes to change, it only happens when it becomes personal.

Bron1954,

@poligraf 'Everything' includes political parties, business etc. If I had meant humans I'd have said 'everyone'. As I said, people adopt change when it becomes personal. Humans are sadly mostly not compassionate, we can't even get the human race to go vegan to save the planet. Politics cycles between right and left, we are now going right. We should fight this of course but people will want to go back to where they are comfortable. The far right is trying to strip away gains, womens rights for example. Our fight now will be against global fascism.

Bron1954,

@poligraf We don't have that much time left, so it's a moot point in any case.

Bron1954,

@poligraf I'm not denigrating anyone. It is human nature to be uncomfortable with change. I think this discussion has run its course, thank for the conversation.

Bron1954,

@poligraf You have entirely missed the point. In another 30 years you will get it.

Bron1954,

@poligraf Not according to around 97% of the scientists involved in climate change. 'There might just be much more time left'. Gambling with very large stakes there, either survival or extinction.

Bron1954,

@poligraf We can't afford to gamble.

Bron1954,

@poligraf I am not denigrating human nature, you continue to throw that insult. Nor am I putting out pessimism. I'm advocating a strategy based on what we know of human nature. I have been around long enough and worked in change management to know what the hurdles are. We're now globally sliding towards fascism, that's my concern.

For animal lovers, little Possum is just a year old and suffered so much. He's with a rescue now but healing will be expensive. Please donate if you can, no amount too small. https://fnd.us/32M2Sa?ref=sh_3DAid4_sh_7H3LkAkkV3m7H3LkAkkV3m
