I'm working on a video to see what the Linux community (or at least people who follow me) actually use.
So, I created a little form, hosted on my Nextcloud (hopefully it's up to the task...)
It's only up for 2 days, so don't hesitate to share it around, it will help me "touch grass" and see if my preconceived notions are confirmed, or invalidated!
@thelinuxEXP My main PC is a @frameworkcomputer. Are they considered a "Linux company" (as they officially support Linux and ensure that their parts are Linux compatible) in your poll or a "niche company" (as they offer Windows too)? 🤔
@frameworkcomputer@thelinuxEXP 90%+? Wow, it always felt a bit like there are a huge amount of fellow DIYers out there, but I thought that might be just within my social media bubble. 😅
Could you please add that other distros are affected too? For example, openSUSE Tumbleweed and Debian Sid. I know they aren't officially supported, but some people in the community might be using them anyways.
I finally pulled the trigger and applied for a @kde supporting membership today! Although only some of my machines are running KDE at the moment, I very much appreciate your great work, and I'm really looking forward to Plasma 6 :kdenew:!
Thank you @frameworkcomputer for delivering such a great AMD device! @fedora 39 beta is such a wonderful out-of-the-box experience!
Some things to be aware of after Reading The Friendly Manual (I wasn't 🥴):
My fingerprint reader required a firmware update to get it working in :fedora_old: 39 beta. (Which was V-E-R-Y slow process. Be patient!)
Memory training of my 32 GiB DDR5 took very long too. Be patient as it doesn't show any indication that the Laptop doing something in the background.
@frameworkcomputer@mmu_man@penguintech1 I think he is talking about proper schematics and NOT block diagrams. 😉 Don't get me wrong! I like your block diagrams (it is a good start), but you can NOT do any serious board level troubleshooting with them. 🙁
