Yes, I didn’t even know it happened in my own country of Poland. I would blame news and TV but I don’t even watch TV, and so much article titles sounds like clickbait I usually refuse to even check them. So I guess I can blame the news for the insulting clickbait tactics.
As someone who spends time programming, I of course find myself in conversations with people who aren’t as familiar with it. It doesn’t happen all the time, but these discussions can lead to people coming up with some pretty wild misconceptions about what programming is and what programmers do....
I think the difference is that they don’t know where to even start, and we clearly do and that’s the way to differentiate from perfectly working computer and a basically brick in their minds.
“Sometimes when somebody called it shows up up here but normally it covers the screen and I can see the name.” Like I have no idea how those businesses fix people’s phones, when they hear this kind of instructions. Makes me tear my hair out.
Is there a chance that no one needed any AI generated pictures of historical figures in the first place (the only reason I can think of for making them is to agitate people on the internet)? They aren’t real and so obviously fake it’s not even funny. How do you want them to respond to this nonsense?
We are entering an era where nothing on the internet could be trusted. You going to say we had misinformation since forever, but nothing on this scale and this easy to make and spread.
