CaptObvious,

I have a dozen or so AA (at least 10? 15? years old) and four AAA. They hold a charge very well, and are easy to charge from a solar panel when needed. They’ll top up a phone during a blackout or a camping trip. They get used in flashlights, controllers, remotes, shavers, etc.

I keep a box of alkaline batteries in various sizes on hand for guests, but it’s hard to beat NiMH and NiCad rechargeables.

CaptObvious,

At least the brick would be better qualified than the Cheeto with a bad toupee.

CaptObvious,

Have you looked at something like a Mac Mini or older MacBook? I have a 2008-era MacBook that Apple abandoned years ago, but it keeps up with modern Linux just fine. I don’t think they’re very expensive, and they’re workhorses.

Mozilla shutting down Pocket app for Mac, recommends installing iOS app — 9to5Mac (apple.news)

Mozilla has announced today that its read-it-later service Pocket will be retiring its Mac app this month. Users are encouraged to install the iOS app on their Mac or use the web going forward. Here’s when and why Mozilla is shutting it down.

CaptObvious,

Good riddance? Now I want to run Mac Firefox on my iDevices just to be rid of Pocket.

(Before anyone jumps in, yes I know it won’t work. But a guy can dream.)

CaptObvious,

People don’t like offices and are more productive when they’re happy. Who knew?

  • CaptObvious,

Why is this here? Is there a point?

    CaptObvious,

Agreed. The only official Mozilla response to Google’s WebDRM that I’ve seen was on the git page where the Firefox engineer raised the concern. Mozilla’s Google liaison shot down the statement opposing WebDRM as “premature” since it is currently “only a proposal” (by a working group of Google engineers).

    CaptObvious,

Considering that Facebook has probably illegally registered “consent” using dark patterns, it may be necessary now to revoke that “consent.” Maybe OP was asking how to do that since they never legitimately consented in the first place.

    CaptObvious,

If I were a European FB user, I’d still want to take positive action to register that I do not consent and to revoke any previous “consent.” It’s a valid concern.

    CaptObvious,

I’m continually surprised at the list of things that are “antisemitic” now.

    CaptObvious,

It’s also happened in a few places in the US. Cities or states tried to outlaw the practice and religious communities screeched about not being allowed to carve up babies’ bodies.

    CaptObvious,

It’s interesting how many apparently religious people feel the need to hang out in an atheist community.

    CaptObvious,

Can your local yarn shop just order the yarn used by the pattern creator?

    CaptObvious,

If they can’t, email the creator and ask where they got their supplies. Or search for a yarn store online that’s willing to ship it.

    Where there’s a will…. :)

    CaptObvious,

This article doesn’t pass the smell test. Author has no discernible expertise on the topic. He tries to weave a conspiracy out of whole cloth, based on his ignorance of US business accounting. His evidence is cherry-picked.

    In short, this is garbage.

    CaptObvious,

This is the right call. It’s sometimes not easy to see where simple disagreement ends and actual harm begins. Well done.

Maybe later... how about never, you fucks?

It is endlessly frustrating that companies have universally decided that they won’t let people say “no” to stuff, ever. There are no longer options to reject stupid-ass new “features”, only postponement until next time you open the app/website/program. They’ll continue pestering you for the rest of your life. I...

    CaptObvious,

And this is one of the best reasons to categorically refuse to rent software.

    CaptObvious,

Never heard of this. Checking it out. Thanks!

    CaptObvious,

There appear to be a few extensions. Wikihow has a couple of articles about how to block shorts.

    CaptObvious,

    WH sometimes surprises. :)

Minecraft's recent EULA changes place heavy restrictions on Java servers (twitter.com)

Just spreading awareness about whatever the fuck Mojang thinks they’re doing. Given their enforcement of the EULA, or the lack thereof, this probably isn’t going to have as huge of an impact, but I think it’s still something worth talking about....

    CaptObvious,

Isn’t Mojang now a wholly-owned subsidiary of Microsoft? How is this not EEE?

    CaptObvious,

I wish Texas regression surprised me anymore.
