In case you missed it the spineless legislators on this committee caved to Hillcorp’s bullying threats and removed the SCorp provisions they objected to. THEY get to decide whether or not they will pay taxes that all the other oil companies pay. 🀬🀬

This does not surprise me. I can think of past Fairbanks taxation arguments where folks wanted paved roads returned to gravel because they hate paying for public use items. But, this had a strong vein of public school hatred running through the vote. It is difficult to overcome. 😞😑

@seachanger He won't, of course. In fact currently if he needs to defend himself legally we are ALL on the hook for it due to a policy he and Dunleavy implemented for the two of them. πŸ™„πŸ™„ What is significant to me is that this law overturned by the court was written by Dunleavy in a bill HE shepherded along. So this must be very personal for him.

@EBecker @seachanger I am also worried, but so glad the floodgates have been opened to spill the data on just WHO has been using these allotments and HOW. I will post Dermot's article from today about how EVERY Anch. Baptist Temple (now Mt.City Church) school pupil is automatically getting this to help pay tuition. And 200 kids supposedly enrolled in the Fairbanks School District BEST Homeschooling program are actually kids attending Monroe Catholic Schools.

I visited my friend at their machinist school last week, where they’re learning to program huge machines to cut metal into intricate parts. watching a CNC machine execute its commands was unexpectedly chilling β€” it reminded me of getting annihilated by my phone’s backgammon game on the smartest setting… something about the way it doesn’t think, which takes time. it just lives in a brutal present tense of task execution. this is a subtoot about the dawn of the age of robot wars on earth
