What in the world!? It’s been ages since I had fast food and today I went to Carls Jr. and picked up food for three. One chicken sandwich, 5 piece chicken tenders, a combo meal and an extra fries. $42!! I almost drove away when I realized they weren’t pranking me 😅 That is just crazy. In & Out is the only reasonable fast food left it seems.
@eniatitova One SINGLE hash brown? 🤯 You know, today I ordered a combo meal because I thought it would be cheaper but nobody drinks soda. Now it’s just sitting on my counter because it’s too expensive to throw away 😂
Little friends just living their best lives 😄
Sometimes I can’t tell which babies belong to which mamma squirrel but these two have a very attentive mother and she keeps a tight rein on them. She has also laid claim to a great piece of real estate where they just sun themselves all day long. Good job, little mamma 👍
One of the yard doves taking its morning bath. I’m interrogating it about why I have never seen a mourning dove fledgling? Dove just smiles and plays dumb ☺️
What’s cuter than an oak tit? Oak tit fledglings of course! There has been an absolute explosion, the pine is full of them and it’s delightful to watch them. The oak tit parents really have their hands full feeding their very smiley demanding little ones, it looks exhausting 😅
Introducing a new crow! This one is very vocal. The parents leave it in my pine tree while they do crow stuff and it talks up a storm, it’s incredibly cute. This is the third fledgling I’ve had the pleasure of getting to observe over a course of three years. I won’t fall in love with this crow because now I understand that they will leave and I’m always left with the parent crows again who are rather aloof with me 🥹
I take an antidepressant off label to treat a different condition. There was a problem getting my script filled and I went 5 days without it. Last night I felt so terrible I went to the emergency room about 8:30 PM and I was shocked it was jam packed. Like, standing room only. I was really surprised, I wonder why it was like that? Not even a Friday night. Is something going around I wonder? I didn’t specifically notice people coughing or sneezing or whatever but I did not stay long 😬
@Catlynn haha yeah quitting is great! I have a beer or two if I go out somewhere with someone but that's it. No alcohol in the house. And you too- hope that weaning goes well!
A morning surprise 🤗 two of these were flitting around and I thought they were towhees at first but when I looked at the photos, nope! First time seeing a Phainopepla, what a beautiful bird! Hopefully they will come into my yard so I can get some good photos 🍀
My favorite album cover of all time. RHCP has been one of my favorite bands since forever and when this album came out I felt like the cover was just for me 😂 This painting was not made for the album, it was an already existing artwork by an artist named Kevin Peterson and I love it so much! 🌻
I guess we have cicadas too in California, I didn’t even know. But they don’t emerge en mass like a biblical plague and I have to say I’m very glad! I feel like I would be freaked out by that situation. One reason I didn’t care for Texas was all the bugs. The sheer terror of large flying things caught in long hair can not be overstated 😵💫
At this time of year the challenge is making sure the babies get enough food without letting the mammas get too much food 😅 but we have to remember that ground squirrels are in the marmot family and their body type is very different from tree squirrels. Having said that, some mammas really need to chill on the walnuts!
What’s up with the baby squirrels? Well first we have this little hell on wheels baby who is a huge spaz zooming around running on top of family members all the time. But in the third picture we have a baby I’m worried about. It lists to the side and tips over frequently. It does not seem sick, maybe some type of neurological issue I have no idea 🥺
First yard fledgling of the year spotted yesterday and it’s a real cutey 😆 I think I also saw an Oriole fledgling! Not sure tho, will post and see what you guys think.
Oh boy, look at that! 👀 Last year somebody gifted me some of their dug up iris plants and I stuck them in the ground without much hope that they would do anything. Recently they shot up some stalks and they bloomed yesterday for Mothers Day, a lovely surprise. I would recommend planting these, they sure don’t seem picky or to need much care.
