Einladung zum Austernessen, „bevor die Saison endet“. Frage mich a), wieso die Dinger eine Saison haben und wie man das herausgefunden hat, b) wieso der Einladende mich eigentlich so überhaupt nicht kennt?!, und c) wer wohl das erste Mal eine Auster geöffnet hat und warum, und den Inhalt dann attraktiv genug fand (oder verzweifelt genug war), um ihn zu probieren, um anschließend begeistert seine Kumpels zu informieren: „wow, ein leckererer Klumpen Hustenauswurf, kommt alle!“

Hey - I have a really dumb question, but I need to get this resolved.

It's been hanging over my head since a couple of years in to the pandemic, and I've finally decided that I must do something about it.

I have a car. It's an old Hyundai i10 that no one here in Switzerland is likely to buy. It probably does not run right now because it's been sitting in a parking space in a garage for two years without being moved.

It is not registered in Switzerland. The title is German, but I never registered it here, because it would have required going out during lockdown etc.

So basically, even if it ran, it couldn't be legally driven, as it would have to be repaired to the correct state to pass inspection.

I've found I just don't need a car.

And so I'm really not willing to poke around to find someone who will tow the car from its underground garage parking space and then not screw me making it inspection-ready. Especially since I don't understand much Swiss German, and mechanics etc do like to take advantage of that.

I KNOW VERY LITTLE ABOUT CARS.

What I do know is that I need to get rid of this car. The best case is that I can sell it to someone for spare parts, but I just don't have the communications wherewithall to do that.

Does anyone, ANYONE, who knows what the best thing to do in this situation is in Switzerland? Who to contact? What to look out for?

My ADHD/executive function problems/social anxiety are screwing me here, but I really want to get rid of this thing and just buy a nice cargo e-bike.

EDIT: I appreciate the ideas I've gotten from people in other places, but I'm really looking for a Swiss perspective here, and definitely not for a recap of Google results. Thanks!!!

@grrrr_shark Hm, I sold my (registered) old (17 years) car several years ago. I'm not that sure the guy paid that much attention to the plates. And I'm pretty sure he resold it to Eastern Europe or the like. So, I would ask a local seller/buyer if they could have a look at your car and how much it would cost they dealing with everything? As long as you can prove to be the legal owner of the car, it could just work?

@msiemund Was ich übrigens am Begriff „Annotation“ sehr grossartig finde: er bezeichnet sowohl das Produkt als auch den Prozess. Ja, man könnte auch „das Annotieren“ sagen. Aber es gibt ja zum Beispiel „Annotationssoftware“ oder „Annotationskampagnen“, da geht es ganz klar um den Prozess. Annotationssoftware ist sehr selten gut dazu geeignet, mit Annotation als Produkt umzugehen (analysieren, suchen, etc.) Geht Ihr darauf ein, auf diese beiden Seiten? @janhorstmann @DHTheorie

Ich bin wirklich froh, dass meine Schwester die Idee mit der Seebestattung hatte. Ich hätte nie gedacht, dass dieses Ende doch so friedlich und gut sein könnte. Sie hatte die Idee schon seit Jahren, weil sie in Cuxhaven mal eine Werbung gesehen hat. Falls ihr also nicht nach Cuxhaven kommt, mache ich hier etwas Werbung - vielleicht hilft diese Möglichkeit auch anderen:

Mit ein wenig Abstand zum Debakel: in Zukunft wird es einfach kaum noch drittmitelfreie Forschung an Unis und FHs von Promovierten geben. Prof:innen haben dafür schlicht keine Zeit und denen, die sich weiter qualifizieren wollen/müssen, wird dazu in Zukunft keine Zeit mehr eingeräumt. 1/

Da weiterhin die Frage auftaucht, ob man sich noch schützen soll – eine Entscheidungshilfe.
Die Folgen von Covid-19 werden wir frühestens in 10–20 Jahren erfassen. Einfluss darauf habe ich nicht. Ob ich mich sorglos oder vorsichtig verhalte (zB mit Maske in Innenräumen), ist meine Entscheidung.
Die Kombination ergibt eine 4-Feldertafel. Nur Vorsicht bringt in jedem Fall ein für mich gutes Ergebnis (grün). Sorglos kann auch schlecht enden.
Konsequenz daraus? Ich verhalte mich vorsichtig.

Went to the textile market today and spent an insane amount of money for fabrics and accessories for kiddo's Robin Hood costume. is not yet my strong suit, but this might be easy enough for me to pull off. (I didn't want to buy a readymade costume, but it's crazy how much cheaper that would have been. 🫣)
