Corkyskog,

I mean if it’s foamy enough, it raises some major questions. There are few things that cause that and they are basically all bad in their own ways.

Corkyskog,

That’s voter fraud, and not something anyone in the know legitimately worries about.

Voter suppression is a way easier method to change elections and harder to prove.

Corkyskog,

This is why prisoners and felons need to be able to vote also. It wouldn’t be all that difficult for Republicans to slap enough people in swing states with Felonies to change the election. We are talking about only thousands of votes in some instances.

Corkyskog,

Typically more important for the average citizen. Federal changes may effect you in years, decades or never. Whereas your local politicians impact your day to day life.

Corkyskog,

I assume they aren’t doing any of this in the corporate environment? Because there would be real world consequences for that.

If they aren’t doing any of this advertising and collecting in the corporate realm, then I just don’t see it making a lot of sense in the private realm. So many people don’t use personal computers. People are burned out already from 8hrs at work, they usually use a phone or tablet at home. Very few things require sitting down with a computer now.

Because so much usage is through mobile now, it seems a dangerous play for the payoff. Every time someone switches to Linux, it makes it easier for the next person. I see a very unlikely, but still possible risk that some minor companies might just switch to some sort of Linux alternative. Especially if they are worried about employees taking sensitive data home and it getting snagged by Microsoft.

Corkyskog,

I think it would be really cool if we found ways to incentivize building communities in and around old dying manufacturing towns. When people say there is no housing, they just mean anywhere they want to live. Rebuilding communities would rebuild local economies.

I could imagine grants given to towns on conditions about relaxing zoning in areas to allow for more high density structures and less building codes that are meant for single houses, as well as changes for existing structures in certain zones. Also should either create and fund a community liason program for starting small businesses, or wave the majority of financial burdens.

Corkyskog,

Does Linux do steam games? Can it easily find the movies I already downloaded? Complete noob.

Corkyskog,

I assume the government gets a product exempted from this feature, or do they too have to do all the work to disable it?

Corkyskog,

They are just movie files, saved in a folder. Nothing complicated, will Linux be able to find that folder or files?

Corkyskog,

Wow, you somehow answered my follow up before I could even ask it.

My main goal was to eventually do a plex or jellyfin type setup for the house. Good to hear that it works just as well on Linux. Is the setup more difficult, or are there enough guides and documentation that it’s not too bad?

Corkyskog,

Oh. I just assumed it was milk with pickle juice in it and was wondering what technique they used to prevent it from curdling.

Corkyskog,

They are really trying to push people to Linux aren’t they?

Instagram's unskippable ads test causes outrage among users (www.techspot.com)

Instagram has long been accused of stealing features from platforms such as TikTok, Snapchat, and Twitter/X. It appears that the company has looked to YouTube for its latest idea: unskippable ads that you have to watch for a period of time before being able to scroll further....

Corkyskog,

It breaks the scrolling, breaking user experience.

Corkyskog,

My state banned bags, so if you forgot to bring your reusable, your SOL. And it’s a non issue with those huge reusable bags, no longer do you have a dozen plastic strapping with knife like force cutting into your fingers.

Although I would love to see someone carry a dozen of those cheap paper bags in one trip.

Corkyskog,

Why? Are they afraid UN peace keeping forces would be deployed or that the US would step in?
