Corno,

Oh yeah, it’s definitely a movie you should watch completely blind! I went in not knowing what to expect at all and felt delightfully unsettled throughout. I’m not sure how I somehow managed to avoid all the trailers 😂

Corno,
Corno,

Probably like chicken or other bird meat, since birds are a type of dinosaur!

Corno,

Fellow Dr Pepper enjoyer here! 😃 same here, it just has such a specific and indescribable taste and I’ve yet to drink anything that is even remotely close to the flavour of Dr Pepper

Corno,

How’s it any different from creationism?

Corno,

That just sounds like creationism with extra steps. Many people have the belief that a god created the universe and then life evolved spontaneously.

Corno,

It would still imply that an external being had created the simulation in the first place, which would fall under creationism. Lots of religions try to claim they’re completely different from one another. The way I see it, it’s two sides of the same coin.

Corno,

Simulation theory is just creationism rebranded using terms that are more familiar for a world where computers are so highly used. Someone would’ve had to have created the simulation, and ergo the entire universe, which does sound rather familiar

Corno,

I don’t see similarity. I see people using different words to describe the same thing while being purposefully vague about how it’s supposedly different from creationism.

Corno, (edited )

This isn’t a thread to discuss drawing. It doesn’t matter if there’s a million simulations between us and “base reality”, the original simulation that started it all would’ve been created by someone. If the universe we are observing was the result of someone’s creation, that someone is no different from a god. What simulation theory is doing is replacing the old bearded man in the sky with the great computer nerd in the sky.

Just to clarify, I’m not dunking on creationism or religion in general. I just find it slightly amusing how a lot of the people who dunk on creationism and otherwise do not believe in a god think that simulation theory is completely different because it’s describing the same type of belief but with different wording.

Corno,

I consume things that tend to motivate me - videogames, looking at other people’s art, and even listening to music can really get me motivated!

Corno,

Absolutely amazing movie, the effects were so ahead of their time!

Corno,

Have you seen Vivarium or Color Out of Space?

Corno,

I watched it last night after Helix’s comment piqued my curiosity. I’d previously never heard of it before, and it’s one of those movies where it’s even better on the second viewing. Enjoyed the mystery and the eeriness! Was not expecting that ending at all

What's a common occurrence in your hobby that you think shouldn't be?

For me it’s driving while under the influence. If you couldn’t tell, I like me some ganja. However I have long since held the belief that it is utterly insane to drive while under the influence of most substances, with maybe nicotine and caffeine being the exception. All too often I see other stoners smoking and driving,...

Corno,

Pillow shading and what I refer to as “dull shading” where a person just exclusively uses pure black to shade. The former can look good in certain situations but otherwise looks a bit odd, the latter can make a picture look dirty if they’re otherwise using bright colors.

Corno,

I still can’t fathom that Pikmin is past the legal drinking age in the United States.

Corno,

Looks up when Pikmin 2 came out

Is a year earlier than I remembered

Turns into dust

Corno,

Can’t wait for Pikmin 5 releasing in 2043!

Corno,

Willy Wonka/Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is almost like a kid-friendly horror movie.

What happened to all the baddies you knew growing up?

I don’t know if this is something people say in other countries, but in my country, there’s this common cliché or “wisdom” where adults will assure you that the people who picked on you in environments like school will universally develop lives of hardship later on, one way or another getting into mayhem....

Corno,

I’m friends with them! 😃 People can change, and they’re nothing like their former selves. They understood that acting rude to me and others when we were kids was a wrong thing to do and now they’re just regular nice people who are super chill!

Corno, (edited )

As a bundle of photons that somehow have gained sentience, me too!

Jokes aside, agreed. Most people are good!
