I'm not the only one to notice that search results have gotten markedly worse in the last two months, right? Not just google, but everywhere? (I mostly use Duck Duck Go.)
Anything I happen to search for, unless I'm extremely specific, returns pages and pages of sites I've never heard of, with absolute garbage content.
DriveThruRPG quietly moved their old site design to legacy.drivethrurpg.com. The toggle to "Opt Out of the New DriveThruRPG" in Account Settings is a misleading McGuffin that doesn't actually do anything.
So for now, I can still use the old site design instead of the horrendous mobile-first redesign, with all its fiddly little "swipe left" wheels that just don't work on PC browser.
@Dandelion weird situation: I've never seen it either, but for some reason on my wife's laptop they manage to bleed through. No amount of updating seems to fix that. I do have both uBlock Origin and Privacy Badger though, so that might be it. I'll have to run some tests.
If you like science fiction and naval history, may I recommend Chris Weuve's "Starfleet Tactical" on YouTube?
Next episode is tonight (Apr 13) at 10pm EST:
"Starfleet Tactical #136: Torpedo boat carriers (with Chris Carlson)
"Chris Carlson joins Chris Weuve to talk about torpedo boat carriers like the French "torpedo boat cruiser" LA FOUDRE, and how such things might work in science fiction."
Christopher Weuve is always worth listening to! He spent six years working at the Center for Naval Analyses, and now works designing wargames for the US Department of Defense.
He is also a founding member of BuNine (David Weber's Honorverse analytic visualization team)
If anything happens to me, Mr. Weuve will take over administration of my Atomic Rockets website.
Discord tries to sneak in forced arbitration in their new terms of service.
"You can decline this agreement to arbitrate by emailing an opt-out notice to arbitration-opt-out@discord.com within 30 days of April 15, 2024 or when you first register your Discord account, whichever is later; otherwise, you shall be bound to arbitrate disputes in accordance with the terms of these paragraphs."
Israeli soldiers murder a hundred starving Palestinian civilians because they "felt threatened."
You know, I don't buy that excuse when I hear it from US police facing a homeless African American, and I sure don't buy it from heavily armed soldiers facing hungry refugees.
