Today I received two new (Eaglemoss) replicas for my Alien collection: the USS Sulaco and the dropship. Syd Mead & Ron Cobb.

Christmas presents a little late. 😂

@TheSpaceshipper

Nice. :)

I was able to get Sulaco, Prometheus, and the Betty before their untimely closure.

@TheSpaceshipper

I think it's nice. About the same size as the Betty, weighty, good detailing. The engines are locked in flight position, no moving parts.

Mine's a little dusty. :)

Is that actually in the game? I played a few years back, but never saw anything like that. :)

I was told, "if you boycott every game that is made using any AI stuff, this will probably be your last year playing most games."

Two years back a bunch of photographers and musicians I followed decided NFTs were the future. I stopped buying their stuff.

NFTs died. Blockchain and crypto are dying.

It's within our power as consumers and creators to say "no."

When someone puts a knife to your throat (and that's what "AI" is to many creatives), you're not obliged to point out your carotid.

Look, should I continue this account here or not?

Here, most of the engagement, lately, is complaining about what I'm doing or not doing. Unlike what I experience on Twitter, BlueSky, Insta and Threads. And to the point of losing all pleasure.

Yes, I rarely post alt text because it's time-consuming, I have to manage 5 accounts and there aren't enough people on my Patreon for me to devote enough time to it.

Yes, sometimes I put links to Twitter because I've been on it for 5 years and...

Dandelion,
@Dandelion@stormwaltz.net avatar

@TheSpaceshipper

I've noticed you seem to post less here than before, but I don't use the other sites, so I have no point of comparison.

I'm glad when you do. But I know Masto isn't going to be as big as bird site was for a long while, if ever, so I certainly understand the decisions made. There's only so much time in the day.

A new beta feature called "Clips" allows voice chat to be recorded. You have to dig up the new setting and manually opt-out.

Dr Who has made a long habit of bringing back former cast members and letting them interact in a new story (going back, I believe, to 1973's "The Three Doctors").

Televised Star Trek has rarely done the same - "Trials and Tribble-ations" is the only significant example. But after Picard (especially S3) and SNW's "Those Old Scientists," I wonder if that will change.

Yes! I missed that.

That's a number of key people who've been at Cryptic for many years.

Looks like game executives (Embracer) are about to gut another perfectly profitable studio - one that's even on an upswing right now, with the resurgence of Trek.

But tell me again how those useless C-suite leeches who suck down money and produce nothing at all are "so vital" to a company's success that they'll still have jobs in a month despite their massive management failures.

Love how the light bulb industry was like "switch to LED bulbs, LEDs last longer so you'll never change them, that's why it's okay they're so much more expensive" with enough urgency that everyone spent all the money to switch over to LEDs before we could all discover they have to be changed just as frequently.

Yeah they don't "burn out" anymore. Instead they just start flickering or making buzzing noises and other annoying malfunctions.

It's just "light bulbs cost more now" with extra steps.

Dandelion,
@Dandelion@stormwaltz.net avatar

@rodhilton

We haven't had to replace any of the ones we started installing 8-10 years ago. Maybe quality's gone down over time? Corporations love to gouge by built-in obsolescence.

Either way, LEDs use about 1/3 the power of incandescents.

In less than two weeks, Foundation released an episode entitled "Long Ago, Not Far Away", and Ahsoka an episode called "Far, Far Away".

Please come to an agreement, otherwise this will be settled in a regulatory space battle.

At the same time, among the people working in front of and behind the camera on these two episodes are 4 people who worked on DS9, Voyager, Enterprise, BSG, Caprica, Firefly, Stargate SG-1, The Expanse, Farscape, Torchwood and Mass Effect.

It all fits.

(I assume Ahsoka - Foundation seems po-faced for her usual tone.)
