@TheSpaceshipper can't remember if I actually saw it, or just mis-remembering reading the Starlog article a lot. I think I did see part of it, but not all the way through. Will have to find out

I was feeling pretty blue today, and then I read the comments on this video and now I feel much worse.

(pretty much every comment at that URL comes from a place of literal ignorance)

malducin,

@tvaziri one reason I don't really watch movie discussions on YT, just as bad at Twiiter movie discourse.

OTOH my mom was one of those that was confused afterwards, as she didn't know Cushing had already passed away. She thought it was him till I mentioned it

@tvaziri that's on brand Shatner which I don't mind much. But yeah, when it was announced, what was the VES thinking? At this point the awards seem to just be an excuse ti see which celebrities and famous people they can bring in

Your school's reaction to Gaza protests on site tells you quite a lot about the school.

@virtualbri literally fot an email from my alma mater today and I wasn't exactly pleased. Still have to check the local news, but the wording wasn't very reassuring

I can't believe it. It totally cleared 2 min before totality and all clear through the event. You can even see Venus on the second pic.

Wasn't promising this morning, extremely cloudy. But the best part was witnessing it with my mom

I just wateched a clip from one of the prominent "despecialized" versions of a movie with star wars in it, and immediately noticed a "special edition" shot in it, so be careful out there folks

malducin,
@malducin@mastodon.social avatar

@tvaziri guess I'm gonna check my versions. One is fine, the one I usually watch every year, but haven't checked the other versions.

Now watching "Space is the Place" with Sun Ra. I miss when you used to be able to just stumble upon crazy movies like this on cable. I've never stopped to watch the whole thing though.

It's a miracle it's on Max right now. And even more surprised it got it recommended to me.

I guess the commonalty with "Aniara" is "scifi with a lot of people off the street as extras"

Enjoying this too, for very different reasons.

malducin,
@malducin@mastodon.social avatar

@virtualbri I became aware of this movie a the San Francisco MoMa of all places. There was a small scifi exhibit and in one screen they were showing clips of Space is the Place. Been fascinated by the imagery. Still haven’t watched it though. Hopefully soon

Dune, a family affair.

In the mid-1970s, producer Michel Seydoux tried to adapt Frank Herbert's novel with Alejandro Jodorowsky.

Almost five decades later, Léa Seydoux, his brother's granddaughter, plays Dame Margot Fenring in Dune: Part 2.

Now watching (a documentary starting with this quote: "What is the goal of the life? It's to create yourself a soul. For me, movies are an art... more than an industry. And its the search of the human soul... as painting, as literature, as poetry. Movies are that for me.")
