For us it comes for free from the prime account. I still refuse to watch anything on Prime video, but I believe I’m not pirating because I technically do have access to all these movies/shows. That’s logical right?
Watched dudes install a countertop. Apply caulk, one wipe, beautiful. After countertop installed I put in trim (it’s a window to a patio) and need to caulk literally a straight fucking line six inches long. Caulk, wipe, looks like ass. Great work!
I did an indoc for scout snipers. The shit is no joke. Sitting on a hill is easy. Crawling to that hill and remaining in that position over the course of days with limited food and water, nowhere to piss, no shelter from any effects of weather or bugs or anything, that’s the hard part.
In February, HouseFresh managing editor Gisele Navarro called out publishers like BuzzFeed and Rolling Stone as some of the culprits that publish content about air purifiers despite a lack of expertise — but Google rewards these sites with high rankings all the same. The result is a search results page filled with SEO-first...
I dunno, I had this conversation in another thread recently. I was 13 in 2000. The web was a disaster then. Sure, there were good parts, but every website was an outright attack on your computer. Java and Flash were everywhere and they were so easily exploited. I’d go to websites and they’d pop up 100 different windows of hardcore porn, audio on, the whole nine.
The Internet has been gentrified. Sure, there were some tough places that you had to be careful about wandering into, but there were great experiences. Now it’s this homogenous, cultivated experience.
67.5 is I guess what the retirement age will be to collect “social security.” So only another 30 and change years, on top of the 16 I’ve been in my field. I pray I can work from 2008 to 2054 and that my job doesn’t disappear into nothingness, that or the world ends. Working forever is unfortunately not the worst case scenario!
My grandfather, great guy, loved him, but I don’t remember him working, ever. He retired when I was very young, maybe four or five. Back when the retirement age was 55. Full pension, call it a day. It’s just crazy to me. 67.5 will be the retirement age, and I’m just hopeful I’ll be lucky enough to take advantage.
I knew some very intelligent individuals in the military. We were all enlisted and we all knew how to put a shit can liner in a shit can. And not one of us went around waving our ASVAB dick around.
I will commiserate with you. I think the shape of that can is ultimately your issue. In fact, I know it is, I’ve seen that can and anytime I’ve seen it, the bag looks like yours. So you’re not alone.
As an aside, if you intend on joining the military, especially if you enlist, nobody cares about your ASVAB score, and if you wield it like a weapon, others will use it against you. I knew ASVAB waivers who had quick wit. I served with dudes who paraded around their conventional intelligence and had a tough time making friends, and only when they dropped the whole smart guy act did they fit in better.
Your post tickled my funny bone tonight. I wish you well and I hope you can “adapt and overcome” as it relates to this issue.
Do you have recycle and trash? It’s the way to go. I bag the trash but I dump the recycling into the large can outside and then reuse that dirty bag for garbage. I’m essentially saving the world.
Nice to know there are others out there! Great bins, unlike poor OP.
Right? It’s the basic test. I have come to terms that I’m really basically smart, but when things get more detailed I’m pretty regular.
I was so smart I became an 11 though, instead of perhaps a job with life skills, for a life other than LEO. No regrets though, made some lifelong friends, got stupid tattoos, visited some cool places, and I get $170 a month for tinnitus.
Puns away, I take my kids hiking from time to time and the conversation of bears comes up naturally (I bring it up), and I try to tell them about what to do, what to look for, this and that. It’s almost like literally everything else, education is a key to understanding.
And bears, for all intents and purposes, are robots, they tend to do what bears do. Now people, on the other hand, they’re a mystery.
I just use credit for everything and hover in the 820s. Unless there’s some substantial discount for paying cash I just don’t see the point these days.
That being said, my wonderful credit score ain’t doing shit for me. It’s not like I get some magical super low interest rate. Maybe when things calm down it’ll be worth it, but then there will be some other reason not to borrow money.
Sweden is infamous for having some of the highest taxes in the world, and yet the country’s tax agency is still one of Sweden’s most trusted institutions....
I think the question is stupid, and I’m not sure why we need to bring the Swedes in. Why not just say Why do Americans Hate Taxes? You’ll get a variety of answers, some in the vein you’ve described.
Me, I live in Jersey (New), and we pay a lot in taxes. I’m pro tax, but at the same time I’m also critical about how my taxes are wasted, and I say that because they certainly are. So it’s a love hate relationship I guess. I say this just because I don’t think it’s fair to assume everyone is all hurr durr small government (when it’s convenient) nonsense. I just want smarter spending. And I live in a state that’s as blue as they come, I vote for them, but our mediocre transit system is on the brink of disaster (like, every election it seems), despite me sending a bunch of my money to NJ, as an example.

I dont know why they have to lie about it. At $5/8ft board you'd think I paid for the full 1.5. Edit: I mixed up nominal with actual.
