Boomers won’t part with their homes, and that’s a problem for young families (www.cnn.com)

Buying a family-sized home with three or more bedrooms used to be manageable for young people with children. But with home prices climbing faster than wages, mortgage rates still close to 23-year highs and a shortage of homes nationwide, many Millennials with kids can’t afford it. And Gen Z adults with kids? Even harder....

DrMango,

Not sure how common this is nationally, but around here it’s also common for the older generation to maintain two properties a “home” in the city/metro area near their kids or grandkids and a “cabin” which is literally a second home somewhere else.

I think it’d be great to give up the home in the metro and downsize to a condo or apartment, but that’s just me.

DrMango,

It certainly is for audiobooks! This experience has been enough to make me go back to my other methods for listening.

DrMango,

My wife and I watched through The Sopranos recently. One episode per week, the way it was “meant to be viewed.” We were both incredibly frustrated with exactly what you describe here: single-episode manufactured drama to keep viewers coming back for the next week. Entirely too often the writers would conjure some conflict at the beginning of an episode only to resolve it at the end with nothing changed. When this happens in any other television we call it “filler” and it is fine to be skipped. I thought Seinfeld was supposed to be the show about nothing, but my god the Sopranos spent an awful lot of time not developing the characters at all.

Also, how many fucking times did they get away with using a dream sequence to reveal something to the lead character?? It’s lazy writing.

3/10 show. James Gandolfini gave a great performance, Tony Soprano was a boring character.

DrMango,

Red flag collectors are in for a great year

DrMango,

Kids are mean (yes you are still kid when you’re an undergrad)

DrMango,

400 iq play is getting to the red pill multiple times and then taking the blue pill once you’re satisfied with your path. Catch me on NG+10 taking the blue pill

DrMango,

Absolutely body language first. It is well established that children can learn and use sign language to communicate long before they can speak. If that doesn’t count as “body language” then I don’t know what does 😉

DrMango,

And if you’re a dad who has a woodworking YouTube channel and business: Festool.

DrMango,

Usually we just bring them in our water bottles

Dave Wallace wrote a pretty popular essay called “A Supposedly Fun Thing I’ll Never Do Again” which covers his unfortunate experiences on a paid-for cruise. Could be worth a read if you want some humor and commiseration.

I found a copy on Scribd, you might be able to find it elsewhere if you poke around.

DrMango,

I got Endure: Mind, Body, and the Curiously Elastic Limits of Human Performance. Not something I would have picked up for myself, but I’m finding some interesting nuggets of information within

DrMango,

The youth vote, the minority vote, the poor vote, the mail-in vote… Really they just don’t seem to like the concept of voting altogether

DrMango,

I wish Summoning Salt would do some more recent or different games, but he really seems to love the NES/SNES era. Just saw he released his second multiple-hours-long video about Mike Tyson’s Punch Out and I am just not the audience for that I guess.

He could do good things with Hollow Knight or Halo 2 for example, but maybe that’s just not his passion.

DrMango,

NICE

Edit: I have watched this video before. Am I having a stroke?

DrMango,

All this talk of Quebecois separatisme is giving me think DFW was a lot more prophetic than we thought…

DrMango,

Starbucks really should be louder about their cal counts…

They’re dumping literal sugar syrup into most of their “specialty” drinks, adding several hundred calories. I would love to see the calorie counts right there on the menu in-store and online in large, bold text.

The again, studies have shown time and again that people are awful at understanding how many calories are in their meal, so I’d wager there would still be plenty of people still thinking “oh, only 480 calories. Good thing I’m having a salad for lunch!”

DrMango,

Add peanut butter for some real gourmet shit

Ubisoft has permanently taken The Crew offline (www.gamingarcade.co.uk)

In 2014, Ubisoft released 'The Crew,' a racing game that aimed to revolutionise the genre by offering a sprawling map mirroring the entire United States. While the game wasn't a complete disappointment, it failed to achieve the monumental success its ambitious premise had envisioned.

DrMango,

Semmelweis was also kind of an asshole and would camp out by hospital sinks and yell at staffers for not washing their hands. He had the right idea, but he also had a shit personality which definitely contributed to the “everyone hated him” thing.

DrMango,

Hopefully it doesn’t try to bang it’s cousin

America has lost its f*****g mind. (feddit.de)

Hey, German here. What the f*** are Americans doing at the other side of the Atlantic? Some of you already know this monstrosity. I did’nt. This is a Ford F650 Truck and when I stepped out of my Youtube Bubble I realized, it was marketed as the “biggest, baddest Truck on the road” for the everyday American. Are you guys...

DrMango,

But how else am I going to telegraph that I have a tiny penis if I don’t drive one of these to my office job 57 minutes away from my home?

DrMango,

One isn’t even a proper noun, it’s a massaged initialism:

United States Navy Sea, Air, and Land (SEAL) Teams, commonly known as Navy SEALs…

And the wood one looks more like stain to me
