I had a nice lunch with Max then I went and got my nails done ready for tomorrow’s costume. I came home and the house is being turned into a 50 themed party palace! So exciting

I have seen my friend and told her in no uncertain terms that I need my sleep and so does she, and that it helps no one if she crashes before my party. She said I am “terrifying” when I am in telling off mode 😂 No one’s ever called me that before!

My dad called to say he’s not going to die yet, good to know! 🙃 He’s been checked over and is OK but is not to use his boiler until it’s been inspected. He’s got electric heaters he can use, but he’ll have to make do without hot water until his safety is assured.

This means he will probably be OK to come to Wales on Thursday, I was starting to think that he and his friends might have to miss my birthday party. So all in all I feel a lot calmer now.

Morning. It’s not even 9.30 on Monday and I’m already drained. My bestie has I think become clinically manic planning things for my party, and kept me awake texting both me and Tom repeatedly from 2.30 to 3.30am. I’m going to have stern words with her today, she’s making it more complicated than needs be and at this rate she’s going to crash big time before the party itself. Also I feel physically awful from having my sleep disturbed so much.

Then I woke to a missed call from my dad, which always means something worrying, so I called him straight back and he was in his friend’s car being taken to A&E with suspected carbon monoxide poisoning. He didn’t want to go because “I feel better now”, but thankfully his mate Danny insisted. He was very unwell in the night.

This combination of events has made me incredibly anxious, my heart is racing. I’m going to sit quietly and breathe for a few minutes, then I’m going to go for a walk in the sunshine and hope that helps.

I'm going to have to spend the night on the phone with an American insurance company, trying to resolve an issue and cancel a contract. At $1 a minute, and 13 hr time difference, and robo-call voice recognition software that can't manage Australian accents.

Well I slept 11 hours with pharma help which is a big relief. My mood is good but I’ve got a little edge of anxiety. I will communicate with my PhD supervisors today, but I’m not going to work - it is less than 24 hours since I felt suicidal, I need to be gentle with myself. It’s been happening to me for decades but I still can’t get over how my moods can just flip almost instantaneously. It’s very wet here but I’m going out anyway to try and walk off my anxious edge. How are all of you this Monday morning?

Today is the first day where I’ve felt doubt about doing my #PhD. Up until now I’ve loved it. I know it’s just depression warping my thoughts, but I feel like walking away. I will walk away until Monday, hopefully then I’ll be ready to get back in the saddle #phdlife
