My fingernails have reached the point where typing is an unendurable TICKYCLICKYTICKY experience, but they have to stay long for one (1) more day for a meeting where I need to look nice. Then we're deploying the clippers!

Yeah, I'm in Typoland. I'm trying to ignore them ... while misspelling "typing" three times running.

A Murder At The End Of The World review.
Hotch-potch of borrowed plotlines from 2001 and Ex-Machina to standard locked room mystery and true crime.
Ponderous eyeroll inducing basil exposition on everything from inequality, coercive control and climate breakdown.
Emma Corrie's prolonged emoting v annoying and doesn't compensate for rubbish script.
A good idea dragged out over too many episodes with shabby dialogue and advanced scenery chewing. Irritating kid.
Verdict: Meh.

Emma Corrin annoys the hell out of me, and I'm not sure why.

I missed this. Are Australian mushrooms grown in peat as well?

Forbidden fungi: why mushrooms have been banished from National Trust menus | The National Trust | The Guardian

The conservation charity will no longer be serving mushrooms at its sites – and it’s all to do with the special powers of peat bogs

@anathema_device
As far as I know, they're all grown in "mushroom compost" here - a mix of broken down organics like straw, with some more woody matter for their wee spores to latch onto.

Do we -have- peat in Australia?

I've had a bunch of medical things lately, and am filled with shock and dismay that all the anti-virus protections have been dismantled. No masking anywhere, even at the oncologist, except for one person who was wearing a mask as a chin accessory.

Even at the ONCOLOGIST.

A UK friend whose parents are very vulnerable has experienced SO many difficulties getting boosters. Here (Australia) the booster uptake is insanely low, but at least it's free and easy to access for everyone.

Earlier I was feeling a bit elated but now I’m slightly panicky. I think I might turn the light off in a few minutes and listen to music in the dark. The Radio 2 Folk Show is on soon.

Tom took me out to a cafe, so I had a 20 minute walk in the sunshine and a chocolate milkshake. I don’t think I would’ve been able to leave the house under my own steam. I do feel marginally better

Hello, my mood is very low. It was hard to get myself out of bed. I tried a walk but dragging myself up the hill was so hard I only managed 15 mins. I’m so behind on my walking challenge now. I’m in training all day, I hope I don’t have to speak much. Hope you’re all OK

Morning, how are you today? I feel like I am coming down with something, I woke up with a headache and gummy eyes and now my throat is sore. Not what I need for a full day of important training, ugh. I shall power through with the aid of paracetamol and lozenges. Miss Cinnamon is moving from windowsill to windowsill monitoring the man who is cleaning our gutters, she doesn’t trust him at all. Right, I’d better go and get set up for this training. Have a thantastic Thursday everyone!

Mr Willoughby is a big tough stray cat who found me and immediately decided he was home.

  1. In times of stress, he tries to cuddle up into my neck like a tiny baby kitten.
  2. At the vet he lies on the table or the floor. Once he fell asleep.
  3. If I make a circle with my arms, on any surface, he will curl up in the circle.

"The June day passed, dusk was falling, and the whole Moomin family drooped and became silent. Finally Moominmamma had an idea and resolved that everyone was to sleep out in the garden that night. She made up their beds in nice places, and by every bed she placed a little lamp so that nobody would feel lonely."

Just had my first hot cross bun of the year for my elevenses, M&S, very good. Does anyone eat HCBs outside the UK? If not, why not?

ExtraPenguin,
@ExtraPenguin@aus.social avatar

@RolloTreadway @purplepadma
I have family in the US, and they confirm use of icing on hot cross buns. Also so many Americans seem to hate dried fruit that fruitless HCBs are common.

Way to completely miss the point, Merca!
