His TV show had the absolute worst argument in favor of raising minimum wage that I have ever seen, which really pissed me off because he could have made a legitimate argument. But no, he challenged he and his girlfriend to live on the equivalent of minimum wage at the time for 30 days. His girlfriend insisted they continue their organic vegan lifestyle, so they blew through their food budget, and then one of them got a not especially serious cold and they went to the ER over it.
If you’re going to live like you’re on minimum wage, show how hard it is just to survive on that. Don’t do that first world middle class problems bullshit.
The funny part is he admits in the documentary that his own brother told him the whole thing was bullshit. He told him (correctly) that there are people who eat McDonalds every single day of their lives.
If you’re trying to show that to a general audience, don’t insist you eat a diet that most of them wouldn’t eat whether or not it was affordable. All it makes you look like is someone who grew up in privilege and doesn’t understand poverty or the need to make sacrifices because of it.
Oh fucking great. My daughter’s online school requires her to run “Windows 8 or greater,” but we got her a used laptop that can run 10 to make sure it can keep up with security updates. I don’t even know if it is powerful enough to run 11 because I didn’t even consider the possibility when I bought it. Now we’re going to have to buy a new one in a couple of years?
On Tuesday, voters in Crook County passed measure 7-86, which asked voters if they support negotiations to move the Oregon/Idaho border to include Crook County in Idaho. The measure is passing with 53% of the vote, and makes Crook County the 13th county in eastern Oregon to pass a Greater Idaho measure.
The mountain is covered in unrecoverable corpses, trash and literal human shit, it’s deadly, it’s freezing cold, there’s almost no oxygen, and there’s a line to get to the peak once you get there. The only reason to keep this nonsense up is that it gives the Sherpas money they would otherwise not have and they’re poor enough as it is.
Seriously though, why bother even if you love mountain climbing? Sure, it’s the highest point on the planet, but wouldn’t you rather climb something more pristine?
