I’m assuming it because the legal liabilities are unknowns at this point and nobody wants to take the plunge to find out. The US “Justice” system is pretty fucked to say the least.

Don’t worry buddy, you’re not alone. My community includes people I don’t agree with or like. Just because they’re self righteous assholes doesn’t mean we should celebrate their misery. Hell I’m sure there’s a lot of wildlife at risk of losing life and habitat as well. Moral of the story is: bad things are bad, and everybody should try and be a little empathetic every now and again.

I suspect the fedi-collective has more negotiating power in this moment than it realizes. We may as well make some asks, see how Meta responds, and they in turn will see how the public, the media and the regulators respond to them in this bold new era of pervasive Big Tech skepticism....
This makes me think of a friend’s child years ago, who was going around asking all the adults, “how tall are you for your height?”
Which was met with confusion, and the child asking more and more emphatically. I think what the kid was trying to get at was, “are you tall for your age?”.
What I don’t get is why not open up the 4473 form to people doing private sales? You could have it on a phone app even. It’s not like an FFL isn’t doing anything special, just calling in and reading your answers off the damn form.
