Send in the FBI along with support of they’re using the Texas guard…

Arrest everyone for interfering with federal law enforcement. If that doesn’t make the point, then we can get more extreme.

That… assumes they listen. these fuckwits are already overstepping their legal authority. But yes, anyone in the Nat Guard should get a stand-down order and told to fuck off, and refusal… well FAFO applies.

The problem is that Abbot is not just using Nat Guard, but also local cops. (and park rangers,). Those lot should get hit with federal obstruction charges.

Passengers file class-action lawsuit against Boeing for Alaska Airlines door blowout (www.cbsnews.com)

A class-action lawsuit was filed Thursday against aircraft manufacturer Boeing on behalf of multiple passengers who were aboard an Alaska Airlines flight last week that was forced to make an emergency landing in Portland, Oregon, after a portion of the fuselage blew out in midair....

It’s environmentally friendly.

Sams club in highschool. They used janky things to count bills- by weight. The thing is, a new bill weighs substantially more than an old bill.

Enough that across 500 in 20’s because they didn’t come around early as often as they’re supposed to, it’s enough to be off by a few bills. Never mind all the ones.

They spent weeks arguing, insisting we were stealing- every single cashier was on average off by about the same margins. The same margin, incidentally, that was the margin of error on the machines…

This is probably the least expensive and /or invasive

Another thing is a faucet cover, which provides some protection and depending on where the faucet is, it can be heated. This is more of a commercial building thing, though. The other “solution” commercial buildings have is just to replace them every spring…

Lines in prints (lemmy.world)

Just about all of my prints have these lines at around the same heights, and I can’t figure out why. I tried changing the nozzle, changing the layer height from 0.15 to 0.12, and changing the speed from 60mm to 40mm. All of these seemed to have helped a bit, yet they remain. I was thinking maybe as the prints get to a certain...

Along with ekZepp’s, check the z carriage as well- both the rail carriages for play and the lead screw for straightness.

I’ve seen similar happening on my bro’s ender, and he had to install a brace going up from the front of the printer to the top of the upright, but I’m not sure how rigid a mk2 is.

Why do some websites have a "Continue Reading" button?

Some article websites (I’m looking at msn.com right now, as an example) show the first page or so of article content and then have a “Continue Reading” button, which you must click to see the rest of the article. This seems so ridiculous, from a UX perspective–I know how to scroll down to continue reading, so why hide...

It also generated clicks so they can charge advertisers more for views.

FuglyDuck,
@FuglyDuck@lemmy.world avatar

That’s exactly how that works.

Increased traffic to your website increases the value of ad space on that website and they pay you more for it; the “read more” button is one tool to demonstrate MSN or whoever actually has traffic.

It’s far from the only tool, but it is one tool, and is part of the analytics they’re running. It also shows some amount of engagement, that people are actually readin the article rather than clicking on it and forgetting about.

FuglyDuck,
@FuglyDuck@lemmy.world avatar

And why does good content cause advertisers to come to you?

Traffic. The more people come through your site, the more valuable the ad-space, the more they’re willing to pay.

Good content in niche areas will also increase value, yes, but there’s a reason websites pay for SEO services…

It’ll be interesting to see what they change… and the city could use some change.

i feel like the only things they really have going for them are the Saints (More fun to watch than the Twins, at least. Just saying), Can Can Wonderland, and Cossetta’s and some good botique/craft coffee shop. (Nina’s off cathedral hill is the GF’s favorite,)

Non-consensual cuddle puddles lead to grumpiness.

I suggest bribing with scritches and treats so he knows he’s your favorite. (Even if it is a lie.)

Generally speaking, it’s a bad idea to use fuels in things not meant for them. I don’t know of a lamp would produce enough heat to push CO /CO2 out the chimney- but it’s very likely the lantern is not going to be adequate for all night heat.

It’s also a bad idea to leave lanterns running unattended- though depending on the stove this may be mitigated, it’s not particularly safe.

IMO? If it’s a matter of staying warm, you’ll be better off with plenty of warm blankets or sleeping bags - remember to layer them on top and bottom.

It helps keep your feet warm for a little while, but honestly? The water bottle is most useful for something to drink when you wake up- keeping it from being totally frozen.

nalgene bottles also work with boiling water.

observer.com/…/wikileaks-proves-primary-was-rigge…

it wasn’t a fair process to begin with, the DNC ran it’s primary so as to prevent Bernie from ever getting that election. and they did it because, as a socialist, he’s antithetical to the interests that control the DNC. that is, the corporate elite.

they really should just say “fuck it”, stop doing primary elections and just appoint whoever they want. It’d be more honest than the dog and pony show we currently have for primaries.

FuglyDuck,
@FuglyDuck@lemmy.world avatar

If the emails are genuine, they’re genuine.

If they’re not… that’s pretty easy to show. Instead, the DNC has apologized for them. But yeah. I’m the one buying a narrative. We also have records of them, you know, doing the things that the emails say they did- like blocking Bernie from accessing voter rolls so he couldn’t send mailers or otherwise contact them.

The leak wouldn’t have been as impactful if they weren’t, you know, actively undermining candidates in contradiction to their own convention’s bylaws. But, yes, RuSsIaNs. it’s all the rUsSiAnS fault.

FuglyDuck,
@FuglyDuck@lemmy.world avatar

you don’t offer apologies for remarks that are fake. then, there’s that time that an MSNBC straight up accused them of rigging things before the leaks ever happened

or that time that Warren said she believed it was rigged, too

Like, there’s plenty of shit there, and yes, there’s probably some emails that were altered to make it look worse than it was.

But you’re blatantly ignoring a simple fact that they did these things, and that if they had not done these things, it would be pretty simple to demonstrate otherwise. Instead the the leader of the DNC stepped down, and they issued apologies and continued on, fate acompli. The Russians didn’t make them cheat. The Russians weren’t even the first ones to go there.

all of which comes back to the broader discussion that biden is an objectively bad candidate, but he’s the one democrats will put forward, and instead of doing something to attract voters who patently do not like biden, whine and bitch and moan about how it’s their voter’s fault.

Boomers gonna boom, I guess.
