GONADS125,

The incels in western society are just as unhinged and bizarre imo. I’m not sure how prevalent they are in Europe, but they’re very much a problem here in the US and Canada.

GONADS125,

Same, been on galaxy phones since 5 (not every model), and have never seen it either. Then again, I have been running Adguard on my phones the whole time.

Edit: Wow, this comment showed up 3 times…

GONADS125,

There’s no justification for Hamas’ terrorism, nor is their justification for Isreal’s genocide.

GONADS125,

I learned in Japan that it is a thank you button. Like if someone let’s you into a lane, you flash twice to say thank you and turn it off.

I’ve noticed truck drivers do the same here in the US, so I’ve started doing this as well as a regular driver.

GONADS125,

Obvious troll. Joined 8 minutes ago, first comment is belligerently stupid whataboutism… Name is BadActorLol…

Might as well block you now because you’re bringing nothing worthwhile to the table.

GONADS125,

I can’t exactly answer your question, but I strongly encourage you to donate your organs. You can easily save 3 or more lives.

My plan is to do that, and have my remains naturally buried. But natural burial grounds vary by state (if you are in the US). Some states allow natural burial on private property, with some caveats (acreage, ground water).

It’s kinda complicated and requires you to look into your state/county laws and nearby natural burial grounds.

I personally hate the idea of pumping our bodies full of preservatives and sealing it in a concrete tomb underground. I also hate cremation, even if it is accompanied by planting trees over the ashes.

I think the best legacy is to transfer our ATP to organisms in a food web. How cool is it to imagine our energy transfered into fertilizing plants and eaten by insects, which are eaten by frogs, which are eaten by snakes, and then hawks, etc.

So much cooler than wasting it in cremation or trying to preserve a useless empty vessel. What cooler legacy is there than allowing your energy to be carried on through an endless chain of diverse lifeforms?

GONADS125,

To add to this, radicalism spreads thru a social contagion effect and requires repeated reinforcement, and social media acts as a catalyst. However, local organizing also plays a vital role in the spread far-right extremism.

Here is an article I have written on my blog detailing how people become radicalized. I have ads turned off and do not benefit in any way from my blog.

One important section I’d like to share here is for the false ‘both sides’ arguments:

There is a stark difference in the means with which the two groups engage in acts of extremism. In a study evaluating Left-Wing and Right-Wing domestic extremism between 1994 and 2020, there was one fatality as the result of Left-Wing extremism, versus 329 fatalities resulting from Far Right extremism in that 25 year period. [5]

The Far-Right movement is the oldest and most deadly form of domestic terrorism in the United States, and The Anti-Defamation League Center on Extremism found that the Far-Right is responsible for 98% of extremist murders in the U.S. [24] Furthermore, for nearly every year since 2011, Far-Right terrorist attacks/plots have accounted for over half of all terror attacks/plots in the United States. [21]

In the U.S., Right-Wing extremism was responsible for two-thirds of all failed, foiled, or successful terror attacks in 2019, and was responsible for 90% of attacks in the first half of 2020 alone. [21] Since 2013, Far-Right extremism has been responsible for more terror attacks/plots than the Left-Wing, ethnonationalism, or religiously motivated attacks/plots. [21]

GONADS125,

I don’t think this is an appropriate community to post a self-post philosophical question… This community is specifically for posting science articles.

My genuine advice to you is to take an entry level philosophy course at a local community college.

If that’s not affordable/feasible, buy/pirate entry level philosophy textbooks. Or at least look up Descartes and epistemic self-doubt.

State laws are factoring into college choices for young adults (www.nbcnews.com)

One survey shows as many as 73 percent of young adults are taking state abortion laws into account when making decisions about where to go to college. Savannah Sellers reports on one of the most important decisions in the lives of young students and their families.

GONADS125,

Some campuses have such horrifyingly greater rates of rape too… It varies from campus to campus, but it’s a systemic issue. Source

GONADS125,

My first thoughts from reading the headline was that it probably had to do with abortion and cannabis legalization.

What's the correct way to tell a very rowdy group of people in a restaurant to...stfu.

Context: Me and my partner went out for a meal last night. 7-9. The restaurant in question was absolutely heaving as you’d expect on a Friday night. And we got unfortunately positioned directly next to the offending group of maybe 10 adults and 3-4 young kids....

GONADS125,

Ugh… what a nauseating, cringe-inducing comment…

Reading “hurts your fee fees” is one of the most sickeningly lame things I’ve ever heard…

GONADS125,

I’d politely ask, and then escalate depending on their reaction.

“Hey would you guys mind keeping your volume down just a little? It’s pretty disruptive for everyone else.”

If they were assholes, I’d then chew them out and complain to staff.

Not saying that’s the most mature route tho…

GONADS125,

We depicted the Japanese as rats, demons and vermin in propoganda posters to dehumanize them, and we put Japanese-Americans in internment camps.

Not as fucked up as what the Japanese were doing to the Chinese and our POWs, not that it was a competition.

War is so fucked up. Humans suck. Fuck the IDF and Hamas. I’m so sickened by this genocide.

I’ve found this to be incredibly powerful. Trying to end on a slightly positive note…

GONADS125,

This really irks me, because it applies to subs related to weed or other non-sexual content, including some games. I’ve also been hit with the same prompt to open the official app for subreddits that are “under review” or new.

I only go to reddit from search engine queries to get answers for a topic.

I just posted on reddit for the first time since the API disaster to get support for the watchmaker app (that is the dev’s official source for support).

I noticed a weird glitch happening to me (mobile site on Firefox) in which if I edit a comment, it loses all formatting. Like, every space between ‘paragraphs’ dissappears, and so did the block quotes. It just put “>” in with the jumbled up mess…

GONADS125,

That’s actually a pretty compelling argument.

But then again, I don’t think Nixon signed onto have his head in a glass jar. Is parody not an exception?

GONADS125,

Trump has stated in the past that he would run for a third term. He doesn’t care about the constitution beyond using it as a talking point to rile his unhinged base.

What is even more interesting to me is epigenetic studies on monozygotic twins. As twins age, their DNA can begin to alter thru epigenetics (environmental impacts on DNA), such as if one twin smokes cigarettes and the other abstains.

The identical twins can become less ‘identical’ throughout the span of their lives. Here’s an article on the subject.

Edit: Here’s an accessible scholarly article with more information.

GONADS125,

I’m still waiting on the de-extinction of the woolly mammoth…
