GUILTY! $5 million sexual assault & defamation jury verdict.

GOP CANNOT afford REPEAT sexual predator offender as 2024 president nominee. Offends voters badly.

America needs strongest GOP candidate. Trump ain’t it.

My guess... only a guess... is that the guy on the jury who was a devoted listener to MAGA podcaster wouldn't go for the rape charge.

alfredo_liberal,

@tdwllms1 @GottaLaff @Lowie sadly no since this is a civil case

Last time a member was expelled in Texas was in 1927.

Slaton, who resigned ahead of the vote, was found to have violated rules for supplying alcohol to his 19-year-old intern and having sexual intercourse with her. https://www.kut.org/politics/2023-05-08/texas-lawmaker-resigns-after-committee-finds-he-had-inappropriate-relationship-with-aide

Maybe #HarlanCrow thinks that, by dint of purchasing himself a #SCOTUS justice, he’s effectively President under the Mazars precedent.

Jay Willis:

Harlan Crow's lawyers fired off a pound-sand letter to the Judiciary Committee explaining why investigating Crow's patronge of Clarence Thomas "raises substantial separation of powers concerns," and all due respect to "Michael D. Bopp" but I don't think this is your call dude.

I get why Clarence Thomas would invoke separation of powers here, but Harlan Crow is not a government official, he's just a guy, what the fuck are we doing here lmao

GottaLaff,
@GottaLaff@mastodon.social avatar

3/ Willis:

It reads like a joke but I think this is legitimately a correct description of what Harlan Crow thinks

Via Alexandra Erin:

This seems to be an admission on the part of Harlan Crow that he believes himself to wield the power of the judiciary through Clarence Thomas.

We're expecting the former president to try something similar in Georgia should he be indicted by a grand jury in Fulton Co

Current or ex-fed officials can move proceedings from state to fed court if they can argue that they were acting in their role as a fed officer at the time of an alleged crime. My understanding is that the bar is relatively low, just that they have to have a plausible argument

alfredo_liberal,

@GottaLaff he wants to be pardoned but guess what that ain't going to happen as long as we around to make sure he never comes back
