GregorGizeh,

Dieser absolut nutzlose scheißbot, welcher nur dazu da ist irrelevante und unlustige d-mark 1:2 Umrechnungen zu machen, ist vermutlich das beste Beispiel warum bots gebannt gehören.

GregorGizeh,

Well i haven’t read the article but on principle you can make many things sound more or less dramatic than they might actually be with percentages. If there were 3 people with colon cancer per year (random figure) and now there are 18 that is 500% more, but may as well be a statistic outlier.

That being said I wouldn’t be surprised if it turns out to be either or both. Microplastics are everywhere, we can only hope they dont fuck with our biological processes in irreversible ways (like causing infertility).

GregorGizeh,

Over here, we look down on Americans instead.

GregorGizeh,

Well how else would you suggest people come in contact with the wildlife of this world? Which is obviously critical in making people care about protecting it.

Crappy “documentaries” ain’t it by the way. Not to mention that zoos also serve a secondary function in providing for rescue animals, and animals otherwise unable to live in the wild. Zoos are not perfect, but are very clearly the best compromise for fostering interest in our wonderful nature in future generations, who probably won’t even encounter a horse or cow in real life otherwise.

GregorGizeh,

Take a look at bazzite. It is built upon the idea of a steamOS PC, and comes very close. It is also quite beginner friendly and idiot proof due to its architecture and the ability to roll back to a working version at any time, in case you brick something on accident.

GregorGizeh,

As a recent convert from windows myself (about two weeks in) I can only recommend it. Almost everything including windows games worked right out of the box with minimal tinkering required, and setting up and configuring the system itself was even simpler than on Windows. It feels a lot like setting up a new smartphone as a comparison.

Personally i just copied my important files and documents to a backup drive, prepared the install medium and then nuked my windows installation, but you may want to take a less drastic approach and create a test partition first to dip your toes in.

GregorGizeh,

It seems so absurd to me this could happen. For the boomers I understand, they grew up in an offline world, but the youth? They are raised on the modern web and smartphones but are often clueless too.

Was it the unsanitized, wild west internet era of the late 90s/early 2000s that hardened the millennials against online bullshitting?

GregorGizeh,

… Bashir is clearly intended to be of middle eastern or perhaps Indian descent, somewhat obvious from the actor. And the episode with his parents, also both clearly not white.

GregorGizeh,

I’m glad they went with sjo, at least she is alive and can fight back. Imagine they ruined all TNG trek by taking the omnipresent and beloved computer voice and made it a corporate sockpuppet we hear everywhere now, crudely regurgitating platitudes of consumption.

GregorGizeh,

To be fair, that is entirely accurate. It is the last windows I will ever need because I switched to linux.

While I dislike corporate ai as much as the next guy I am quite interested in open source, local models. If i can run it on my machine, with the absolute certainty that it is my llm, working for my benefit, that’s pretty cool. And not feeding every miniscule detail about me to corporate.

GregorGizeh,

Sums up my thoughts nicely. I am by no means able to make sense of the inner workings of an llm anyway, even if I can look at its code. At best i would be able to learn how to tweak its results to my needs or maybe provide it with additional datasets over time.

I simply trust that an open source model that is able to run offline, and doesnt call home somewhere with telemetry, has been vetted for trustworthiness by far more qualified people than me.

Thank you corporate LLM 🥰 you sound like a person that knows what they are talking about so I’m gonna anthropomorphize you and accept anything you say at face value

GregorGizeh,

There is mega fucked evidence for it that the helldivers run into on a regular basis, the dozens of colonist corpses herded into the automaton bases and butchered on slabs for their brains.

They are also speaking very distorted english, including rarely thanking the player for killing them (perhaps varies with localisation), and use the exact same color and flag as the cyborgs did during the first war. And those certainly were humans, albeit definitely on the affront to nature side.

And lastly the cryptic message that was once posted on IRL social media, which decodes into a message that the automatons are the children of the cyborgs.

So my personal theory is that we learn over the course of the story that the automatons are some sort of nightmarish last ditch effort the cyborgs made; creating self replicating adaptive war machines running on human brains.

GregorGizeh,

Gas and fire damage has just been fixed with the latest patch. The mech self damage I have never witnessed I think, but it doesn’t seem to be much of an issue to me based on that.

The spear I grant you though, I really want to use it more but the good old quasar is just more reliably blasting big targets, and doesnt occupy the backpack slot as well.

What they really need to fix in my opinion is the frequency I am stuck in or under the ground from an explosion. No way out except grenade suicide

GregorGizeh,

jUsT use LiNuX

Seriously though, helldivers runs fine on Linux and doesnt get kernel level permissions.

GregorGizeh,

Yeah I recently made a full switch from windows myself. I have only one machine and as it turns out, all I do with it (gaming, browsing the web, a little game modding and the occasional office usage) I can do on Linux just as well or better.

I dont think I play many sony games outside of hd2, but if sony somehow removed Linux compatibility I’m just done. I was about to tap out during the recent psn fiasco anyway, they are already on thin ice with me.

TIL of Waldorf schools (en.m.wikipedia.org)

I mentioned to someone how I think there should be more hands-on learning in schools and he told me to look up Waldorf schools. Very interesting to say the least. Rudolf Steiner had very unique philosophies, some very weird or outright morally questionable, but some that I think were an appropriate reaction to the “thinking in...

I went to one of these as a kid, from first to seventh grade. From what I remember the ideology isnt really taught to the kids, the weirdest things I recall are having to learn writing cursive or drawing/painting in a specific way, and eurythmics class. The latter is a sort of expressionist new age dance/PE hybrid where we did various activities like learning to juggle.

I also learned two second languages right from the first grade, namely english and russian (the latter i mostly forgot over the years due to lack of practice). This i would consider the greatest advantage of this model of schooling, I have retained excellent language abilities with very little effort and always was by default ahead of what was taught at the regular schools I went to afterwards. I also learned to play instruments, sculpting, working with wood and metal, tailoring, and a bunch of other interesting things not taught at regular schools.

Overall I would say it had a positive effect on myself, I only switched schools because I had social issues setting in with puberty.

People dont hate ai, people hate “ai“ llms designed by corporations to produce compliant, inoffensive and soulless art and content, eventually leaving nothing but drab menial labor for us, imprisoned in our corporate shaped minds, unable to express any revolutionary thought any more.

I am very interested in open source models i can run on my local machine. Just not in those corporate creativity perverters dystopian science fiction couldn’t come up with if it tried.

E: there are a few ai communities on here too, for example fosai and stablediffusion, I would think you can find like minded people over there, even on lemmy.

GregorGizeh,

Same here. On reddit I have mostly only been a commenter, I made perhaps five posts over all my years there, virtually all of my 40k karma or so was from commenting.

And while I do that here too of course I am trying to contribute content as well, like asking Linux questions which may eventually help promoting Lemmy through search engine relevance. Of course it doesn’t hurt that Linux is probably the biggest common denominator amongst Lemmy users, so the chance for useful replies is much higher than trying to get a niche community going.

GregorGizeh,

That’s a lot of karma lol

glad you are putting those memeposting skills to use here now

GregorGizeh,

That is actually the epitome of this dumb ass logic (and why I haven’t ever been). A place filled with women, specifically designed to make you super horny.

But fucking isnt part of the deal, usually you dont even get to touch anything unless you also want to be touched, by the bouncers.

Just come by, spend a lot of money, and go home alone. No idea how this concept stays afloat

GregorGizeh,

The weight loss stuff is already showing signs of serious side effects. Just yesterday i read an article on here about it, iirc it causes some sort of chronic digestive condition in a significant portion of users that cannot be reversed even if they stop using the substance. Sorry I dont have the link right now.

GregorGizeh,

This is pedal driven as well. You can see the driver using their legs in the video, essentially this is a very luxurious e-bike. It is both street and bike lane legal in germany, which requires meeting fairly strict limits in how “motorized” it is allowed to be.
