I am overjoyed just by looking at and touching the ready-to-harvest wheat crop on my family's ancestral farm in my village, Siahar in Punjab. After a gap of many years, I witnessed the wheat crop turn from green to golden. To commemorate this precious moment, I intentionally bought a new turban that matches the golden hue of the ripe wheat. This turban colour will serve as a reminder of my farming roots and the wheat crop that has sustained my elders for many generations. 🧡🙏🏽

Hello from my traditional territory of Punjab. For the past 10 days, I have been spending most of my time walking through the same land in my village as my ancestors did. Each step holds countless stories. From my childhood to my teenage years, I spent my formative years here. I played with friends and helped my parents with various farm tasks. This is more than just land; it embodies our heritage, culture, resilience, hard work, and so much more.

As a child, I spent my formative years playing amidst these farms. These verdant lands are not just fields of crops; they are landscapes of my childhood. Hugging these crops felt like I was embracing my old friends.

I am on my way to Kamloops to deliver my keynote speech on joy at Thompson Rivers University tomorrow. I had to switch to a flying plane because the lack of snow this year prevented me from using my dog sled for the entire journey to Kamloops 😉😀

This week, I am traveling to Kamloops (BC) to be a keynote speaker and performer at the BIG BREAKFAST event. It's hosted by the Faculty of Education/Social Work and the School of Nursing and Population Health at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops, BC. The event is set for the morning of Friday, February 16, 2024. I am excited to return to Kamloops, interact with the university's students and staff, and engage with local community members.

It's okay to allow yourself to experience sadness and to give yourself the necessary space to process your emotions. However, when day turns into night and the world grows quiet, or the week turns into the weekend and you have some more time, do not forget to search out what brings you joy. Reflecting in my front yard, I ponder on our recently released YouTube music video. Despite the video being three minutes long, it took us one and a half years to create. Born during my cross-country tour in PEI, it connects Eastern, Western, and Northern Canada.
