Boss is going away for a few days and we’re trying to create a fun surprise for when she returns. Our offices are all shared so it has to be limited to a small area and can’t impact other people toooo much.
The neighborhood suddenly became a popular spot about two years ago, apparently after a photo taken in a particular angle showing Mount Fuji in the background of a local convenience store, became a social media sensation.
It depends on the place. If there are places that are filled with independently wealthy people, they will try to make their home town as unfriendly as possible to tourists to reduce traffic.
The problem with talking about the Congressional Salary question is what a lot of the representatives highlighted, people focus on average salaries for positions that require far more than the average talent and have demands more than the average person.
I also found it interesting that there was a committee under Democratic leadership to try to fix how Congress works, but there didn’t seem to be that push once Republicans took over, even if some Republicans saw a need to fix how the House works.
I’m fucked. I live in a relatively dense area so I expect the grocery stores will get depleted rather quickly. Potable water will probably also be an issue, even though there is a stream within walking distance.
I’m saying it because places like Lemmygrad and Hexbear are outright Communist and they will take it as an insult if you call them socialist.
I’m not talking about the shades of different economic preferences, I’m talking about the extreme cases. In the extreme cases, there are multiple outright Communist communities on Lemmy.
I didn’t have one. There was a dress code of some sort, although a lot of high school’s dress code was determined by the fact they kept the AC very low.
Making Sisko the Emissary added a lot of bad habits to Star Trek that went against a lot of the ideals of early Trek. Kirk and Picard were both supposed to be competent humans, but only that far. Sisko led to writers creating those whose paths were dictated by fate, like Archer and Pike.
The best option is what Europe has been trying to do by decoupling track ownership from companies running the trains. However, that would likely mean a government takeover of all tracks.
Regulation will probably get pushed to insurance. Someone has to ensure these trucks in case of accidents, with either the company or an insurer paying out in cases of accidents.
You need to run more trains, but a schedule will make it easier to hire qualified people to do so.
A lot of what has made current freight rail shitty in the USA is that a lot of freight rail companies seem hyper fixated on only the most profitable routes at the exclusion of everything else. This has caused freight rail companies to adopt some really terrible labor practices, which has led to labor shortages.

The problem is that Europe doesn’t really have an idea of what a European defense organization would look like. The national model isn’t going to work as most nations are too small to provide meaningful contributions. However, it feels like most countries aren’t ready to hand over more foreign policy competencies to the EU.
What's a fun office prank? Christmas themed if possible.
