First, link some sources of how China/CCP is using TikTok in anyway different that Facebook to get data on its users, specifically the comparison to malware. I don’t think OP is overreacting and I do think this is a slippery slope (some entity outside US jurisdiction owns a successful app - this is clearly a message to all other companies and startups outside US jurisdiction that they will meet the same fate if their idea becomes too successful). And yes, I’m sure you will “but but CCP” here, and I will say show me proof TikTok is doing something nefarious (that’s any different than what current platforms are doing - all I’ve ever heard is fear mongering that China “could” do something something etc blah blah)

Yeah I think there is a bit of a disconnect with gun people. Some people are purely about self defense, some people are just genuine enthusiasts, and then there is the group of people who like to pretend they are part of the first two groups but really seem to have a lust for blood - be it fear (someone rings the door bell, or mistakenly drives down the driveway), perceived persecution, political ideology or just downright racist shit.

Antigun people seem to think everyone who likes guns is part of the last crazy group. It’s a bit hard to really tell who is who sometimes, but it’s definitely impossible to keep the guns out of the crazies hands.

Even at 5 to 7 ( and to teenage years) there are stretching exercises that can be done to loosen the foreskin and completely make the surgery unnecessary (and yes there are rare cases where that doesn’t help and surgery is the last resort). Full agreement. My heart is with OP, but it’s a sad fact of life on this planet that peace without violence or threat of massive violence just is not usually possible.

The truth is there are fucked up people out there, and worse there are the real parasites that seem to love licking the boots of horrible people (staring at Trump and his ass lickers).

Honestly one just has to look at nature - everything from the bacteria to the plants to the birds and mammals are in a constant fight to the death over their next meal or territory - us primates have not been able to escape it, and I don’t think we will (staring at water scarcity, food scarcity, upcoming energy crisis, upcoming climate change crisis, etc etc). Sprinkle a little bit of population explosion into the mix, along with wealth disparity - It’s just gonna get fucking worse going forward I fear

Sure, military industrial complex is probably the phrase you are looking for. I have no solution other than we tried our best in the US with having a civilian leader of the military, just it was impossible to foresee how much money would corrupt the entire political spectrum. All I can tell you is it’s established every society (no matter how big or small) is going to have to have some sort of defense - otherwise they will get pillaged sooner or later.

Problem is people with armies usually want to start conquests eventually… No one has figured out how to stop this through history other than having a bigger and better army

This headline is for republican’s in denial about their party to feel better about themselves. Those of us who have paid attention to conservatives knew for decades what they really were (I used to tell republicans for years this is what their party is, many used to laugh and handwave telling me I’m silly for thinking what this headline says)
