Curious as to why you were banned as I enjoy your comic. We were just talking about your comic and the Garfield - Garfield strip in the FarSide sub yesterday.
That said, yesterday I coincidentally deleted my other account on lemmy.ml as I don’t really like the vibe there. Maybe that vibe had something to do with your ban. Looking forward to seeing more of your work still.
I initially didn’t put the “without Garfield” in my comment, but decided to go that route since that’s a comic we see here as well and it would add to the levity.
But now you’ve ruined everything. Ruined, I say.
Edit: And I also realize it is Heathcliff, not Garfield.
Well, while you sort out the ever shifting snake’s digestive tract, I’ve just spiraled out of control trying to figure out why I conflated Garfield and Heathcliff in the Without comics. As it turns out, both are real comic strips. We see the Heathcliff series here all the time, but I don’t recall ever seeing the Garfield version here.
I am beside myself, so at least I am not Without myself. What a ride.
Yes, and one of the reasons I want to keep it going. It’s an old Fujitsu and has a cool form factor (another reason). I recycled about a dozen laptops a few months back, but could not bear to see this one go. It came with XP, but I don’t care to reload that at all. Am also downloading older versions of Slack to see if they’ll work.
Yes, I was looking at the cast and noted Harvey Korman and Mark Blankfield as well. I am pumped to watch it and I think I’ll like it more than the rating gives it credit for. Thanks for the reference!!
It is a “zero-turn” mower. Best suited for larger lawns as they can cover large areas more easily. And of course they are more nimble.
They have a larger cutting area than lawn-tractors, but smaller than brush-hog style mowers that attach to the PTO connection on a tractor. We have all three which get used for different scenarios.
Costs? These materials are easily found roadside or elsewhere. The blocks have chunks missing or are uneven, so a matchbook or folded cardboard helps level out the wobble for the weather-soaked grey plank.
Valid point. So I guess it just matters what you find. Make use of anything available.
I really like this philosophy and it sticks with me even today as I try to use whatever I have at hand. I am reluctant to toss anything with some modicum of useful value. I am told this makes me a packrat. I don’t mind.
I don’t agree with everything you’ve said, but I hear you. Old habits die hard. I grew up with very little available to me. It ingrained this model I have now which is more difficult to shed. It is a constant battle to reduce what I have around, but then that nag of “I might need that” speaks up and it forces the internal struggle.
I have made headway there, as I now have a decision tree I push through to keep or rid myself of stuff, but the struggle continues.
So I joined a new gym last year and was pleasantly surprised. They gave me a smart card to get in and out, that’s it, no app, no accounts, no nothing. Well, today I got to the gym and saw the announcement that they are phasing out the access with the smart card and starting to use, you guessed it, an app....
I’m sick of random capitalisations mid sentence. I’m sick of common words being replaced by less common ones or even downright nonsense. I’m sick of it taking three attempts to successfully get the word I want. I swear it’s been like this for five years or more. Can we have a better version yet, or at least the old one...
I’ve turned off the predictive typing, but still have the basic old style spelling correction enabled. So much nicer. Yes, it’s like moving back ten years, but I am no longer excessively frustrated from typing on my phone. And it was excessive.

More “kid glove” responses to a company killing people. Penalties really need to be harsher than a simple fine without admitting wrongdoing. My confidence in CPAP machines in general has been shook, but I will never knowingly buy a Philips product of any kind again.
I wish we’d stop taking the easy route and settling these suits too. Litigate them to a guilty verdict and punish them harshly. Otherwise it’s just the cost of doing business ad nauseum.

Can we all agree that whatever version of predictive text we have nowadays is crap, and has been for a long time?
