KnightontheSun,

My oat milk lasts a month or so. Planet Oat is the one I use most. Far less sugar than almond milk and is fortified. A half-gallon I will usually finish up a few days prior to the date, but then I am only an occasional cereal killer.

KnightontheSun,

I have some Chobani oat milk at the moment. It says June 12 for an expiration. I’ll finish it long before that, but it does always last over a month for me. I don’t normally have almond milk, so I can’t say there. Maybe the sugars contribute to your issue? No sugar in the oat milks I usually drink.

KnightontheSun,

I am no plantologist, but even an herbicide can affect insects, no?

Feeding or interacting with a freshly sprayed plant and becoming tainted, or perhaps even by the reduction/elimination of the plant sprayed?

KnightontheSun,

I am here to learn (and possibly be entertained), not downvote everything I might not agree with.

I do find it a heady statement to say glyphosates affect nothing but plants, so as my curiosity was piqued in plantology I searched and did find this webpage near the top of my results (using Startpage):

www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8115815/

  • Glyphosate, the most commonly used herbicide in the world, inhibits the production of melanin. Melanin is an important pigment and a key component of the insect immune system; this study shows that glyphosate weakens insects’ melanin-based immune system and makes them more vulnerable to infections, including with the human malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum.

I would not call this a non-credible source so it would seem there are indeed some deleterious affects with insects.

KnightontheSun,

No argument about pesticides, but herbicides are what I am concerned with currently as there seems to be some confusion with their effect on insects. In my ten-minute internet education on the topic, it seems there is a decided effect with herbicides and insects.

www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6502833/

  • Insects directly exposed to herbicides experienced high mortality; while those fed leaf material that had been exposed to herbicides did not.

So, both direct and indirect impacts (melanin and their immune systems) as well as greatly reducing the plant sources they may be accustomed to frequenting is a triple-whammy. I do hate mosquitoes, but I feel bad for all the other bugs and what this will do to the world.

KnightontheSun,

I was not implying that people were spraying herbicides for mosquitoes, but merely mentioned them as a sympathetic exception.

KnightontheSun,

I made a chicken dish a week or two ago. I used a seasoning I had purchased but not used in a while. We were eating and I asked, “What do you think?” I got a lukewarm “It’s good.” but I knew the truth. Now it was a “zesty” seasoning, but it was missing something. I knew very well what it was missing, so I brought it up. “The seasoning I used was a no-salt/no-sugar mix.”

We both made that face.

KnightontheSun,

My friend’s dad would make us sandwiches when we would come inside for a break. Wonder bread, with Miracle Whip and a slice of American cheese. Sometimes baloney, but it had to be fried.

Classic Americana kid food. I loved it then, but am now horrified that I actually liked it.

KnightontheSun,

This article just reframed it in the title as a positive for Trump

It’s Newsweek. So…very much hot garbage yet the site gets referenced here several times a week. Can we please ban the site?

KnightontheSun,

the AR-15 waving morons on mobility scooters

Oh, the Chairborne Rangers? Or is it Meal Team Six? Or the Gravy Seals? Of course, we also know the Talibangelicals, Walmartyrs, the Yeehawdists and the Oaf Keepers. But there are also the Q Cucks Clan, Cupcake Commandos, Vanilla Isis and Midlife Isis, but don’t forget the Green Beignets, Waffle SS, 1st Chairborne, KFC-9, Special Farces and Snack Ops.

As you can see, they are a very diverse [all-white] group of [seriously hungry] patriots!

KnightontheSun,

There’s a joke in racing:

How do you win a small fortune in racing?

You start with a large fortune.

KnightontheSun,

I have an overabundance of “staircase wit”.

KnightontheSun,

It also could’ve been a lesson for her in being overly flippant with people who do sometimes have genuine problems they are mired in.

KnightontheSun,

I was indeed wondering, so thank you!

KnightontheSun,

Will you really remember this event in five hours, or five days, or five years?

React accordingly. I’m not the best at it so I have to keep reminding my self of this.

KnightontheSun,

As a woman of color. That was pretty much it. This made Biden appear more progressive to those on the left. Her being a former cop made it more palatable to those on the right side of the party.

KnightontheSun,

In one of his last video he was asking for monies for some new project. I’d gather he’s working on that.

I like some of the stuff he does, but his rants during covid made me take a step back. If he stays away from the political garbage, I can still tolerate him, but not enough to give him any money.

KnightontheSun,

Most places I’ve seen this referenced it is called a “credit freeze”, but good advice nonetheless.

KnightontheSun,

We are now in S04 of DS9 (first time) and just watched the “Our Man Bashir” episode. What a fun one. I would think they enjoyed playing these crazy roles every now and then. I am also enjoying Quark’s brother Rom more and more as they further reveal his character.

I am very much enjoying spotting these actors that show up.

KnightontheSun,

All I could think of was Enemy Mine.

Speaking to a cow-orker about it, they brought up the Iron Eagle films I had forgotten. Oh, yah…

Google will start showing AI-powered search results to users who didn't opt in (www.engadget.com)

If you’re in the US, you might see a new shaded section at the top of your Google Search results with a summary answering your inquiry, along with links for more information. That section, generated by Google’s generative AI technology, used to appear only if you’ve opted into the Search Generative Experience(SGE) in the...

KnightontheSun,

Startpage is what I use at the moment and it’s been fine. Am trying to decouple from the googs too.

KnightontheSun,

Well they say the olfactory senses do create better memories, so…she was on the right track!

KnightontheSun,

The class notation is still meaningful. If we were talking about your particular network mask I might ask you what class it is. Telling me would give an understanding of size or hops or whatever. Granted, it is class C 99% of the time. Probably smaller. But then I’m certainly no networkologist.

KnightontheSun,

Get enough weight behind it and it really doesn’t need to be too sharp.

Do you offer a catalog? ;)
