You have to have SLACK in the system in order for the system to function properly. Whatever that system is, it can't be at capacity 100% of the time.

I haven’t formed my thoughts fully, but I think about this often: running a more ethical, less extractive and capitalist business.

I’ve spent years doing this and what surprised me was the lack of appreciation for “doing things right”. I thought there was a certain audience (often, the indie web one) who would. but mostly what I’ve seen was heavily entrenched capitalism.

I'm gonna rip out almost all SCSS and only use regular degular css with some nesting. Finding and fixing styles is just so hard when it's all compiled the actual file where the style is located is god knows where.

So, hypothetically, if I wanted to setup an experimental online store for physical products, what would be the most cost effective way of doing this?

I'm happy using Webflow, but it's not cheap... so I won't be using that to start with.

My skills in HTML and CSS are very limited, so I need something visual to build upon.

Setting up images and branding is of course no problem.

Advice appreciated!

I stopped noticing or thinking about it after a while, but, can we take a minute for how horrendous the Safari icon has been for the last ten years?

I’m sure someone lovingly crafted this and can tell me why it’s elegant and beautiful, and I don’t want to belittle their work, but, come on. Just look at this thing 😂

My full time job is writing web components / TypeScript. I pretty much haven't touched Ruby professionally in over 2 years at this point and wonder myself if I belong as part of the Ruby community at this point. Ruby / Rails does hold a special place in my heart.

Art+Design folks are invited. HTML/CSS and JavaScript are celebrated and taught. We ought to be worried about making things on the web, not whoever has the coolest looking for loop.
