And just like that, ContextSDK went from being just me, to a team of 5 full-time, multiple part-time, and as of last week: our very own office with a full stash of Club Mate.

Big product announcements in the making, can’t wait to share more soon 🚀

📤 Just open sourced a solution to automatically send notes written on the Light Phone to my email inbox, and store a copy locally as a backup https://github.com/KrauseFx/light-phone-note-to-self

@bearjaw It's been broken for half a year now based on what I found online. Can't force to use cable only, and debugging is way slower. Also, it didn't work now, and the only fix was a full Mac restart

When  introduced the .HEIC format, they should have upgraded the macOS file-picker to auto-convert to JPG when uploading images to websites and other apps

    This was the iTunesConnect peak time.

    Also, back when handling the double status bar was impossible for most apps.

    @kuketzblog Yes, however still doesn't guarantee to have the full understanding. For example, what if they only do something extra-sketchy for 1% of the user-base?

    Xcode's automatic code signing option doesn't work for CI.

    I've set it all up, and it creates the certificate it needs in the portal (I can see it), and then promptly tells me:

    Revoke certificate: Your account already has an Apple Development signing certificate for this machine, but its private key is not installed in your keychain. Xcode can create a new one after revoking your existing certificate.

    Does anyone even try this shit out before they release it anymore?

    Just lost 7 years of WhatsApp messages, even though I did everything possible when it comes to backups.

    WhatsApp only allows iCloud backups, which is okay, however they overwrite existing backups (with empty ones) and no way to restore the originals.

    Dataloss (especially highly personal memories) is still one of the worst things software can do, especially when you're locked-in, and can't do proper backups on my own like for the rest of my data through TimeMachine, arqbackup and local storage.

    I don't know why, but "Siri" instead of "Hey Siri" is such a nice quality of life improvement on iOS 17

    @christianselig all I want is a button to completely disable Siri, forever, on all my devices. It’s been impossible to escape it. Now they force you to enable it, to even use CarPlay…

    Hello earthlings. I have installed iOS 17 on my personal device and I am reporting back from the future.

    My soul has finally reached the peace that can only be achieved by a absence of the desire of the unattainable- fruit tastes better and every sip of water takes you into the journey every drop took to reach you.

    I’ve spent the last months analyzing how to optimize iOS apps to maximize conversion of in-app purchases. Here are the most important things to look out for:

    KrauseFx,
    @KrauseFx@mastodon.social avatar

    Conclusion 1: Context matters!

    We've seen strong signals that context can be one of the best predictive tools when a user interaction will end up with a successful conversion.

    KrauseFx,
    @KrauseFx@mastodon.social avatar

    Conclusion 2: Find out which contexts have a positive impact! Some may be obvious, some may not.

    As expected, a user is way less likely to convert when they're walking, compared to when they're sitting.

    Surprisingly, when the phone lies on a table, it's also a bad sign.

    KrauseFx,
    @KrauseFx@mastodon.social avatar

    Conclusion 3: There is a big difference in conversion rates depending on the iPhone model, but more importantly, which iOS version the user has installed. People who update their OS are more willing to spend money.

    KrauseFx,
    @KrauseFx@mastodon.social avatar

    Conclusion 4: The real fun begins once you combine multiple signals - you can see clear patterns in what makes in-app conversions successful.

    Use that info to optimize when to ask the user to upgrade or enable a feature.

    KrauseFx,
    @KrauseFx@mastodon.social avatar

    You can use Context SDK to

    • Get a boolean value on if now is a good time for showing a prompt
    • Get specific information on the user's current activity (which was trained on dozens of hours of activity data from people of different ages, heights and body types)
    KrauseFx,
    @KrauseFx@mastodon.social avatar

    To conclude: Context matters. Nobody likes spammy apps and unnecessary prompts.

    Be smart on when and how you interact with your users
