My brother left some drops of water on the leaves of one of his house plants that he left outside overnight and now these marks are permanently part of the leaves.

I asked him if the sun caused it, but he assured me that the plant was only outside overnight. The marks have been on the leaves for a year now

It worked, but the Pletscher rack was pretty wobbly under that load. A bike trailer would have been much better for this job

MLE_online,
@MLE_online@social.afront.org avatar

@phillip I will judge because the wobbliness at slow speeds made the bike difficult to steer

MLE_online,

@jarkman @phillip nay. I will just not carry big, heavy, bulky things on top of the rack.

There are so many comfortable, cozy places Lettuce could be sleeping inside the house, but she would rather sleep outside in the ant-infested leaves because she wants to be a feral little goblin cat

Yesterday was the busiest, go-go-go day I've had in a while.

I had a morning meeting for work over zoom. As soon as that was over, I had to get over to the office, but first, I had to stop by the bike shop to pay the owner for the wheel I bought from him on Sunday.

He wanted to show me some things though, and by the time he was done, I had to hustle as fast as I could to the bus station on my bike, and I just barely made the bus in time.

I rode the bus to work, then had to take care of some work stuff and eat lunch real quick before ceramics class.

Yesterday was the second-to-last day for wet clay before the semester is over, so I was trying to get a lot done. I meant to get out of there by 4:30, but I didn't get out until a little after 5, missing the 5pm bus back home.

So, I was going to wait to catch the 5:30 bus, but it was delayed by 22 minutes.

That was going to ruin my schedule for the evening, because I was already going to have to disembark from the bus partway home to stop by the bar I was at on Saturday -- so I could pick up my hydroflask that I had accidentally left there.

As I sat at the bus stop, I realized that 22 minutes was almost as long as it would take me to ride my bike the 5 miles to the bar. So, I took a gamble that I could beat the bus to the bar if I rode really fast.

I pedaled over there as fast as I could, and when I got there, I was 24 minutes ahead of the bus, and very sweaty.

But that was enough time to sit down and have a beer and a whiskey and cool off before the bus caught up to me.

I did that, stepped outside, rode to the bus stop, and the bus arrived three minutes later.

I rode the bus back to the station, and rode my bike home from there, arriving home 15 minutes before I was supposed to be 20 minutes down the freeway for set build (we're behind schedule and having to work weeknights this week).

I fed the cats, scarfed down a bowl of pasta, grabbed my tools, and drove down to the theater, arriving 13 minutes after I said I would be there.

Then my friend and I hustled on construction, finished a flat, and framed out a second one, and cleaned up in time to be out when the building closed at 10 pm.

I got home at 10:15 pm, took a shower, had a glass of wine, and went to sleep exhausted.

It felt good though!!

We've got this cheap egg cooker that plays the loudest, most terrifying alarm you've ever heard when it's done cooking. My wife requested that I make it "less aggressive" so I hacked it into the most gentle egg cooker of ALL TIME

(warning: probably loud)

Before shot: egg cooker finishing an egg before modification. Jarring alarm goes off, I say "fuck!" After shot: egg cooker finishes. A few moments later, a small mechanical music box next to the cooker starts playing Pachelbel's Canon

@gvy_dvpont The original alarm is so horrible. Why would they do that lol

Busy ceramics day. I finished trimming a little marbled bud case, glazed the geometric mug set, finished building my marbled triangle thing, and got my ring jug and pipes sculpture back from glaze firing

@misternineham It's very cool, but I wish it were bigger. It shrank so much during firing that it barely fits a half cup of liquid now!

Not much good as a canteen, but I guess it could be a flask, right?

I spent way too much time today disassembling two bicycle wheels, so that I could begin the process of transplanting this Sturmey Archer 3 speed hub into a 27 inch rim that will fit my road bike.

While I had the hub free of a wheel, I ended up partially disassembling it so I could clean it and grease it, since it felt pretty gunky and sticky when spinning.

I was too scared to take it completely apart because there are a lot of little pieces inside, but I took it apart enough to get it working well again. It looks much nicer now too

@MrNick2 like I have any idea what the spoke angle is supposed to be lol. I'm just using some crusty old steel rim

MLE_online,
@MLE_online@social.afront.org avatar

@MrNick2 I'm hoping since it's only a matter of a couple millimetres that it won't be a big deal because the spoke angle won't be changing much. Machining the adapter with an offset would make it much harder to make
