We can’t know what reasons they would conceivably have, but based off of our own history we can speculate. We explored new locations for resources, scientific advancements, the sake of exploration, conquest, etc. Is it so hard to imagine they are part of a colony ship and decided to “restart” the ecosystem than deal with hostile lifeforms?

As a counter point to your question, I am a fully sighted person and I rarely have dreams that involve vision, or only partially involve it. Sort of always blurry/like being in a fog. So dreams for me are far more about the other senses, or just conceptual in nature.

Oh good, just what we need. In the west I’m blown away by the cost of housing in many small towns that a decade ago you could get a huge house for under $100 000. It made sense when Vancouver was expensive because all the high paying jobs were there, but how are people affording these house prices in locations without abundant jobs?
