I’ve lived the last fifteen years in The Netherlands & although I doubtless have a limited & biased view, I’ve been happy with what has seemed broadly to be a progressive, tolerant, & environmentally-conscious society.
I guess this new centre- & far-right government coalition is about to trash all of that with its reactionary populist bullshit 🤮
@markmccaughrean@JonnyT We learn, but it's just that it's not enough of us who do and we don't learn fast enough. We keep making the same mistakes over and over and over and by the time we (as a species) figure it out it will be too late anyway. I'm so full of sorrows and anger these days that every time I see a physiotherapist they find the places I store my emotions in my body and it's like emotional vomit. I just can't any more. Is there hope? Is there anyway forward beyond greed and hate?
In spaceflight news today, China is about to launch three of its astronauts on Shenzhou 18 towards the Tiangong space station: liftoff is in about 7 minutes from now.
Should be going on CGTN within the next hour to talk about the mission & international collaboration in space exploration.
The latter is certainly an interesting question given the current geopolitical context 😬

Somehow this song & the associated Yugoslav-German TV series came to mind from my early childhood as the sky was filled with mares’ tails this morning 🙂🤷♂️
@markmccaughrean I Loved that show as a kid. ...You can rewatch it on youtube. Jeeze ...old me... this and Follyfoot of course I was a horsey kid but I grew out of it because we moved to a place where there were no horses.
More than a little envious that my #SpaceRocks compadres are down in Bordeaux this week, along with Steven Strait (aka Holden from #TheExpanse), who’s taking a trip on the Novespace Air Zero-G plane today, & a crew of fellow astronauts from ESA.
And as on the Rocinante, a good cup of coffee is needed to start the day 🙂👍
