Majority of Americans wrongly believe US is in recession – and most blame Biden (www.theguardian.com)

Nearly three in five Americans wrongly believe the US is in an economic recession, and the majority blame the Biden administration, according to a Harris poll conducted exclusively for the Guardian. The survey found persistent pessimism about the economy as election day draws closer....

OccamsRazer,

They can start by developing indicators that actually work, instead of indicators that make them look good.

OccamsRazer,

The entire system is being challenged from top to bottom, with supreme Court justices and Judges all over being called into question.

OccamsRazer,

The charges were about collusion, and not about whether or not the Russians tried to interfere.

OccamsRazer,

I’m not sure if these people are propagandists or just dumb. It seems like a very obvious non story if you actually read what happened.

Biden: what would Trump have done if the Capitol riots had been led by Black Americans? (www.theguardian.com)

Joe Biden has launched one of his most scathing attacks yet on Donald Trump’s record of racism, suggesting that the former US president would have acted differently to the January 6 2021 insurrection if was led by Black people....

OccamsRazer,

How do you think MSNBC and CNN would cover it?

OccamsRazer,

It’s a little confusing what Biden even meant. I assumed he was asking if white people were swapped out for Black people on Jan 6, and all else were equal.

Trump floats idea of three-term presidency at NRA convention (www.theguardian.com)

Donald Trump flirted with the idea of being president for three terms – a clear violation of the US constitution – during a bombastic speech for the National Rifle Association in which he vowed to reverse gun safety measures green-lighted during the Biden administration....

OccamsRazer,

I agree with you, but this is blatant misrepresentation of what actually happened, and that should worry you. I’m not saying this to defend Trump, I’m saying this to point out the misrepresentation of events by the news media.

OccamsRazer,

Protests usually don’t get shut down unless they are particularly disruptive, if they go on for days and if they significantly inconvenience people going about their daily lives. Usually white supremacist marches are cringey and eye rolling, but generally harmless.

OccamsRazer,

There’s a lot of people in the world with disgusting views, and most of them are irrelevant. White supremacists are irrelevant. They don’t actually do anything besides March around every now and then, and normal people give them side eye and move on with their daily lives.

OccamsRazer,

We escaped it by my wife quitting work, so that’s always an option.

OccamsRazer,

They get news from different sources than you do.

OccamsRazer,

You honestly believe that? Our perception of the world and our opinions is formed by what we see and here. It’s that simple. Not sure how you think you somehow transcend that, and have some innate ability to discern truth from propaganda. Whole nations and civilizations have been deceived by propaganda and none of us is above that. So the question we should be asking ourselves is what propaganda are we consuming and how is that affecting us?

OccamsRazer,

I think the key point is that people in Texas feel as though they have control over their schools. People want to leave when the schools don’t reflect their values and they are powerless to change it.

OccamsRazer,

Are you referring to Jan 6 alone or are there other examples?

OccamsRazer,

Kind of weird to reference Kyle Rittenhouse after being exonerated, not to mention the antifa guy who shot and killed a counter protester, and was later killed by police. Like what exactly does that prove?

OccamsRazer,

I guess maybe you didn’t read the article very closely, but those are terrible examples.

OccamsRazer,

Oh sorry I guess I should have clarified that I was looking for bad examples.

OccamsRazer,

I think fascist is an ambiguous enough term to dodge libel lawsuits. How would you ever prove that someone is a fascist or not a fascist? It’s not like you get a membership card.

OccamsRazer,

When your religion is defined by denial and opposition to all other religions, then it probably isn’t welcome where religious tolerance is a requirement.

OccamsRazer,

No I mean the literal purpose of Satanism is to oppose religion and particularly Christianity. That’s why it’s named after the embodiment of evil according to Christianity. It’s deliberately antagonistic. That’s not at all the same as believing that yours is the only true religion.

OccamsRazer,

Look, it doesn’t matter what you claim to be about if the name you choose is screaming something different. It’s like if you opened a restaurant called Hitler was right, and then acted surprised when people called you a Nazi. You can tell everyone that Jews are welcome, but nobody will believe you.

OccamsRazer,

The only thing I know about your religion is that it is antagonistic toward Christianity, and probably all other religions. And that’s based entirely on the name.

OccamsRazer,

Uhh no? But if he chose a name for himself, I would assume that the name meant something about him.

OccamsRazer,

Yes, if your religion is named after the literal anti-Christ, I assume that you are anti Christian. And I don’t see what that has to do with skin color.
