Kids, husband & I are going for our belt testing this afternoon!

Youngest is aiming for orange belt & the other two are aiming for their blue. Husband & I are currently unranked although we have been in class for two years so... it will be nice to see how our sensei ranks us.

But damn if I'm not hella nervous!! 😬

@syntaxseed I was green belt when young, my daughter joined 4 year ago, she's green. I restarted last November and I'm trying my orange belt in June. 🤗

At least I'm not on the side lines watching 👌

I've been working on a plugin for a client that generates custom PDF worksheet printouts for teachers. And it's turning out SO awesome that I'm basically high on coding satisfaction today. 😁

Not bad for my first plugin!

TIL that it is actually less formal to use the pronoun "você" when addressing someone - even though it is the formal pronoun - and you should instead just drop the pronoun altogether and use the third-person verb conjugation so yeah, I've been being unintentionally rude to people around my neighborhood for a year+ 🤦‍♂️

@eviljarred don't worry, we only make accountable the native. Like Japanese, we understand that our language is tricky, non-natives are forgiven from such "errors".

But, well done, third-person is the rule for not-very-close people.

@eviljarred for a non-native, all is good. For a native, it's the borderline of being rude or polite, it depends on the receptor of your question and the relation between you.

@eviljarred great. Just think like this: "Como está?" it's formal, you give less "care", so, minus an S.

For a friend, a close one, you give more "care", so, an extra S is added: "Como estás?"

@eviljarred well, "voçê" is a good way of not being rude. Some people see it has a "rude" way, like the feeling "Don't get close with me, I'm keeping my distance" or "I'm superior to you and I want to keep my distance".

Try to use a verb instead, like:

"Não sei, diga-me voçe."
"Não sei, o que acha?"

Same meaning, but you avoid the Voçe. Be a master of not using the "Voçê".

@villares sem dúvida um bom post, mas ainda assim fiquei com umas dúvidas. As perguntas que se seguem são apenas isso e não estou a pôr em causa o post, somente quero ficar mais informado. Aqui vai:

Pode um software livre vender os dados dos seus utilizadores? Existe algo que o proíba na licença que usa?

O código pode ser escrutinado mas difícilmente se pode provar a venda de dados olhando somente para o código, ou não é bem assim?

@villares entendo, vou dar apenas um exemplo: Mozilla e o seu navegador, Firefox.

É código aberto, contudo recolhem dados de tudo e até chegam a vender a terceiros.

Daí achar que, apesar de ser livre e aberto, existe uma zona cinzenta que é muito perigosa. Não se deve confiar só porque usa uma licença de FOSS. Julgo.
