I guess I understand why it’s the case, but it still blows my mind that British Standards documents aren’t freely available from .gov.uk as a download.

They’re literally the documents that outline how things should be done, but you have to pay a vast amount to access any of them.

I've heard of fedivision, but this is the first time I recall seeing any instructions on how to listen to the entries.

Unfortunately I'm not going to be able to listen today, but let's hope that next year I either remember or the instructions are far more visible!
